Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer (Intern) is a learning-contributor to the Manufacturing Engineering organization.  The Intern is expected to be a contributor in manufacturing planning, tooling and processes including research, analysis and documentation.  The Intern's primary deliverable will be the fulfillment of assignments in support of ongoing manufacturing and support activities.  The Intern works in a team environment working with both external and internal customers.

 

 Some of the Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

The following is a list of duties, tasks, work activities and/or functions the Intern Manufacturing Engineer will/may be required to perform:The Intern will be responsible to complete planning assignments using Syteline, SmarTeam, CATIA and Microsoft Products in support of ongoing production programs under the guidance of engineers within the organization.The Intern will be responsible to assist with new development programs including planning the production process, researching requirements, providing proper tools, evaluating improvement needs and managing customer data.The Intern will be responsible to evaluate and provide recommendations to production issues discovered on the shop floor. This will include research, collaborating with other team members and providing updated or “red lined” planning.The Intern will be responsible to work in a team environment including internal team members and suppliers. An Intern must be able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively to achieve the program goals.The Intern will be responsible to assist with requirements management including reading, assimilation, decomposition and tracking compliance to requirements defining the design (geometry, interfaces, envelope, function, features, stress, materials, processes, environment, etc) of a specific item.The Intern will be responsible to support planning and departmental activities as required. This responsibility will require the Intern to be flexible, self-starting and willing to learn.Must perform other reasonable and related duties as assigned by supervision.

Required Skills:

The Intern position is considered a part time position as the Intern is expected to be an actively enrolled student in an accredited university. The Intern must be in a Bachelor of Science (BS) curriculum in Engineering (or working towards this goal).  The intern weekly hours will be adjusted each semester, or as needed, to enable the intern to attend classes.Completion of 2nd year level (3rd year is ideal) college courses in support of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering with a strong curriculum emphasis on manufacturing systems and lean (Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred). An equivalent number of years of experience in related or supporting job functions, or completion of only one year may be considered.Must be diligent, highly organized and able to think critically.Prior experience as a summer intern in the area of engineering is preferred.Completion of Computer Aided Design classes and drawing reading (GD&T, Bill of Materials, engineering requirements) experience is preferredPrior extracurricular experience such as First Robotics, hands on mechanical experience or other related experience is preferred.Must possess strong communication skills necessary to exchange detailed written and verbal information communicated in English.Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office tools such as Word and Excel. /*generated inline style */   All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran. /*generated inline style */ For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $21.00 to $31.50 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors.
