About the team

Stripe’s Payment Intelligence group is responsible for optimizing each of the billions of dollars of transactions processed by Stripe each year on behalf of our users, in order to maximize successful transactions while minimizing payment costs and fraud. Radar Services owns the technical stack that enables us to make critical real-time decisions to step-up or intervene on every transaction that Stripe processes. The team is home to domain experts on fraud and payments systems that work across the larger Payments organization to stay ahead of adversarial attacks, and to develop novel ways to improve Stripe’s payments performance. 

What you’ll do

As an Engineering Manager you define a vision and strategy for your area, enable engineers to do the best work of their careers, and ensure your team delivers outstanding results. You’ll obsess over talent and be an active partner to recruiters to ensure your team is staffed with the people it needs to accomplish its goals.

Responsibilities Work with a team of talented engineers and product managers to solve payment fraud and risk challenges for merchant fraud teams and other Radar users Drive the roadmap and priorities for your team, and work with dependencies across the company Lead an engineering team in achieving a high level of technical excellence and stability Be deeply involved in new product and market launches Ensure the team does its best work and interfaces effectively with the rest of Stripe Recruit, coach and develop engineers Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering management team Who you are

Minimum requirements At least 4 years of engineering management experience and 10 years of overall experience in the industry Successfully led high-complexity teams, working in parallel on multiple high-impact areas Work very well cross-functionally, and are able to think rigorously and make hard decisions and tradeoffs Thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility Encourage a healthy work environment that’s both supportive and challenging Strong technical background and hands-on experience in solving large scale and difficult technical problems
