As the Equipment Engineering Manager, you will thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented manufacturing environment. You will work safely and constructively in collaboration with a cross-functional team of personnel from Manufacturing, Process, Yield, R&D and Industrial Engineering to improve equipment uptime, stability, and efficiency across a wide range of toolsets. You will provide leadership to a team of equipment engineers who are responsible for best-in-class performance in our Wafer Fab Operation.

This posting is for a position that will directly support Operations at the Newbury Park, CA Wafer Fab.

Responsibilities Provide guidance and strategic direction to a team of Equipment Engineers who support a 24x7 Wafer Fab. Establish creative problem-solving methods with Equipment Engineering for complex unscheduled equipment downtime situations. Drive preventative maintenance programs for production processing and support equipment. Own and drive continuous improvement efforts for equipment failing to meet performance KPIs. Conduct analysis of tools down > 24-hours, wafer scrap, or wafer scrap near misses. Create and modify procedures and preventative maintenance specifications to increase tool availability and enhance training procedures. Maintain documentation specific to the Equipment Engineering team. Drive standards, certification, and training as needed for all Equipment Technicians. Develop and maintain spare parts strategies that support uptime goals. Establish KPIs, track performance improvement plans, maintain scorecards and present technical data to management. Manage area budget goals and continuous improvement projects (CIPs) to meet equipment performance KPIs. Analyze data using sound statistical methodology to drive improvements in equipment and process metrics. Support and influence 5S methodology, ensuring the workplace is clean, uncluttered, safe and well organized to reduce waste and optimize productivity. Work closely with the Production and Process Engineering Teams to improve Safety, OEE and Quality metrics for the fab. Take the lead to establish relationships between multiple manufacturing sites and engineering departments to achieve best-in-class performance. Build a highly capable team and challenge the organization to drive best-in-class equipment performance, cost, and stability. Travel occasionally to various manufacturing and vendor sites to drive improvement and maintain management systems. Required Experience and Skills Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, or related field) with 12 years of related experience (or MS with 8 years or PhD with 5 years). Experience in a manufacturing, equipment or process engineering role within a manufacturing environment.  Experience in a managerial or leadership role. Strong organizational and planning abilities, independent thinking, attention to detail, and excellent troubleshooting and hands-on background. High energy, self-motivated attitude with strong communication skills and ability to interface effectively with peers and team members at every level. Experience with highly automated material handling systems. Previous experience utilizing OEE measurements to drive improvement in equipment productivity. Lean manufacturing experience with demonstrated ability to implement standard work, visual management, error proofing, root cause analysis and value stream mapping tools. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program concepts. Preferred Experience and Skills Working knowledge and experience of applied statistics (SPC/DOE) and structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5 whys, A3 and DMAIC in a manufacturing environment. Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and demonstrated success in complete process ownership within a 24x7 manufacturing environment.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $126,500 - $241,700 per year per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
