The Engineering Manager, E&A, Project Execution supports the cluster engineering team by providing full life-cycle support of automation and electrical while also supporting cyber security and MES projects across multiple locations and may supervise project engineers, E&A. The Engineering Manager can also be responsible to support the Project Execution Manager for the study and preparation of an assigned strategic investment project, especially in the E&A area.
The Engineering Manager E&A, Project Execution reports to the cluster Director of Engineering execution, collaborating with key internal stakeholders: manufacturing cluster and plant leadership, global engineering, GBS engineers, external engineering companies, local engineering, quality & safety functions.
Key responsibilities include:
Project preparation and information phase:
+ Perform detailed technical analysis of functional processes and always propose the most efficient/state of the art solutions, with a broad and continuous interest in technology
+ Coordinates, assists and guides single large or multiple E&A project teams at one given time.
+ Together with and based on the input of internal customer and end-users, you analyze the project and work out the proposals in order to arrive at a concrete definition and budget of the project. You are managing the E&A scope from A to Z, supporting the general project manager. The projects in scope are capacity investments, revamps or energy projects.
+ Depending on the size of the project, you perform the basic engineering yourself or coordinate with external Engineering partners. This includes:
+ The low voltage power distribution, instrumentation and automation scope of engineering projects incl. OT network design, MES design and safety functions.
+ E&A for all building utilities: lighting, power supplies and fire protection systems,
+ The establishment of tender documents, technical alignment and support for the procurement department of Barry Callebaut.
+ Establishes RFQ’s for procurement of all equipment and manages the procurement activities in close cooperation with sourcing.
Project execution and commissioning phase:
+ Manage project resources (GBS engineers and external engineering companies), including people, time, and budgets to successfully achieve project goals.
+ Manages the project execution, after IP approval. Remains within the agreed timeline and budget.
+ Manage the automation and controls systems design, specification, programming, simulation and testing, and start-up. Coordinate programming, configuring, testing, and commissioning PLC and HMI based control systems
+ Together with the E&A team (in the region, in GBS and external), you follow up the selected contractors during detailed engineering in order to have the project in line with scope, budget and timing and complying with the international and Barry Callebaut standards.
+ Lead a team of subcontractors during installation and commissioning works, including cabling cableway design, I/O-testing, functional testing and start-up.
+ You organize the project team and coordinate the work of internal and external stakeholders.
+ Reports frequently and correctly to all stakeholders.
+ General Engineering supporting and ad hoc activities:
+ Give guidance on maintenance of programs for PLCs and PCs coordinating with Process Engineers, Project Engineers, Design Engineers, Information Technology staff, and Production and Maintenance personnel.
+ Safeguards the E&A standards and ensures that these are implemented by the E&A team during the project design and execution phase.
About you:
+ BS or Masters in Engineering, preference for master degree, preferably in the field of electro-technics, electro-mechanics or energy and have a thorough knowledge of industrial electricity or you’ve gained the needed skills through previous work experiences.
+ At least 7 years of related automation experience with HMI, SCADA, PLCs, and general control system design
+ In-depth knowledge of industrial automation systems, including HMI and SCADA systems, Allen-Bradley controls/controllers, Siemens and Schneider PLCs
+ Fluent in English.
+ Strong can-do attitude and problem-solving skills
+ Knowledge of technical tools: Autocad, Caneco, Sistema are a nice to have.
+ You work in an orderly manner, draw up action plans, specifications and tender documents.
+ You have knowledge of the international standards in the electrical and automation disciplines, starting from the machine directive.
+ You have a solid experience in energy projects and an understanding of the ongoing transition towards carbon free operations.
+ You can work independently and at the same time like to be part of a team.
+ You have strong planning skills and are able to manage different E&A projects in parallel.
+ You are analytical and you are able to translate your creative thinking into structured solutions.
+ “Hands on” mentality while taking the lead in projects from A to Z.
+ You are not afraid of large-scale international E&A projects.
+ Flexible to travel during project assignments, projects are executed in the cluster. (50% of time)
+ Role can be based in any BC location (flexible).
+ Home work is allowed.
