Engineering Manager
Job Title: Engineering Manager Job Description Oversee all aspects of Manufacturing and Process Engineering, including Financial, Quality, Maintenance, Human Resources, and Processing. You will ensure the necessary controls and resources are available to perform all functions as specified within the Quality Management System or as directed by the General Manager. Your responsibilities will include reducing labor content of the manufactured end product, implementing improved assembly techniques and equipment, preparing capital justifications for new production equipment and process improvement, and communicating the status of manufacturing issues in weekly management meetings. You will also analyze processes using SPC, FMEA’s, DOE’s, and process parameters to coordinate the necessary improvements. Additionally, you will ensure corrective actions are initiated for control/capability nonconformances, participate with other departments to prevent nonconforming products from unintended use, and provide operation instructions for sub-assemblies, finished goods, and rework of nonconforming materials. Maintenance responsibilities include ensuring standards for all purchased manufacturing equipment and verifying that new production equipment and tooling produce products that meet or exceed standards. You will ensure all assembly personnel are trained on new production parts and processes, and that employees are trained in job-specific requirements. You will also ensure the quality of the end product by developing and implementing assembly fixtures and control plans. Other duties include assisting in the establishment of customer-supplied product listings, designing packaging according to customer requirements, and carrying out the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) as per customer requirements. Hard Skills + Engineering degree (mechanical preferred) or equivalent + 5 years Supervisory/Management experience in the automotive industry + Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management + Understanding of automotive supplier expectations and requirements + Complete understanding of key Quality & Environmental Management Systems procedures + Understanding of customer-specific product, process requirements, and submission requirements (APQP) + Understanding of lab test equipment and fixtures for dimensional verification + Knowledge of Quality Assurance tools such as SPC, 8D problem solving, control plans, DOE, and DVP & R’s + Understanding of the injection molding process, related manufacturing operations, and materials + Understanding of the correlation between KCC’s and KPC’s Soft Skills + Strong communication and people skills + Idea-driven with the ability to communicate to all levels + Technical background + Experience in a tier 1 auto environment or fast-paced setting Job Type This is a permanent position. Work Site This is a fully on-site position in southern IN Work Environment You will be part of a team with 300-350 employees, currently with a team of 10, which will be reduced to 8 by the end of the year due to retirements. The company has business dealings with Toyota and Ford, with a large new Ford project coming in 2025. You will work under an experienced leadership team.
