Job Description
The Engineering Manager provides both technical and team leadership for all aspects of the research, design, development, and production readiness for innovative new products and improvements to existing product lines. This role is accountable for the successful realization of high-value product solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations. The Engineering Manager provides collaborative, hands-on leadership, expert technical guidance, clear direction, and consistent reporting on projects to ensure our position as the most trusted source for life safety equipment.
ResponsibilitiesLead all aspects of the engineering design process from conceptual design to detailed product documentation, analysis, testing, verification, and validation.Own the product realization process, including Design for Manufacturability (DFM), cost and margin estimation, production methods, fixtures, equipment, and seamless handoff from engineering to operations.Create, implement, improve, and maintain sound engineering processes.Provide leadership and support to ensure consistent use of processes, tools, and procedures for the engineering team to be successful.Provide resource management and prioritization to support new and existing product developments, ECO projects, process improvement projects, and other production support activities.Engage with relevant stakeholders and lead product/process analysis for safety, quality, cost, and efficiency improvements.Provide guidance, development, and mentorship to ensure high performance, effective utilization, and continued development of the engineering team.Essential SkillsExcellent proficiency in Engineering Design and CAD/CAE Engineering tools, particularly SolidWorks.Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including the ability to work with engineering tolerances, drawings, and measuring tools and gauges.Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Statistical Process Control.Project management skills, with the ability to prioritize work to meet schedules and provide direction on projects.Experience with automation, controls, and programming.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Experience using hand and power tools.Additional Skills & QualificationsSix Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred.Machining knowledge and experience.Familiarity with rope, textile, and/or sewn goods.Excellent verbal, written, and visual presentation communication skills.Acute attention to detail.Enjoyment of working in a team environment.Work Environment
This role is within a growing company that makes life-saving equipment. The work environment involves collaboration with various departments to achieve company goals. The Engineering Manager will work with advanced engineering tools and technologies, including CAD/CAE tools like SolidWorks, and engage in activities related to process improvement and Lean Manufacturing. The position requires working with hand and power tools, and occasional machining tasks.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $155000.00 - $160000.00
Benefits: As a full-time, regular employee, you are eligible to receive the standard employee benefits
made available to CMC employees, to the full extent of your eligibility. You shall be entitled to accrue
the equivalent of sixteen (16) days of Paid Time Off (PTO) per year. In addition, you will be entitled to
eight (8) designated paid company holidays per year. Please note: our benefits plan may change
periodically in accordance with our business needs.
