Engineering Manager
**Title: Engineering Manager** **Location:** Reno, NV **Job Type:** Full Time - Hybrid **Relocation Assistance:** Yes **Position Description:** The position will provide opportunities to work directly with technical peers, chief engineers, systems engineering and program managers within the company. The position is responsible for project engineering for the design and development of complex rocket motor systems and site manager of a team of approximately 25 engineers. This position is a dual-role position requiring the candidate to perform management activities as well as the individual's current program responsibilities. The Engineering Manager is responsible for the mechanical engineering design and development of complex rocket motor systems and site manager of a team of approximately 25 engineers, which is anticipated to be approximately 70 percent of the total job duties. **Responsibilities:** This dual-role position requires the candidate to perform mechanical engineering tasks as well as site management of a team of Aerospace engineers: Engineering Site Manager key responsibilities include: + Be the “first person” representing the Reno Engineering team to visitors of the facility. Be an ambassador for the Voyager Defense Segment Reno Site, passionate about the technology and programs + Monitor the morale & motivation of the team. Communicate the company objectives & maintain regular information sharing relevant to the team + Work with program management and senior leadership to ensure engineering staff is performing on directed tasks, make engineering staffing adjustments as program demands change + Support performance appraisals throughout the annual review cycle including performance-based merit increase recommendations, promotion recommendations, and conducting annual performance reviews aligned with company, engineering department, and individual contributor goals, business strategies, and overall contribution + Support individual contributor goal development and monitor and coach contributors in support of successfully completing company, department, and individual goals + Review and track contributor timecards ensuring the contributor is following the time keeping policy. + Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team + Foster a culture of learning, professional growth, and knowledge sharing among the engineering team members through training, mentorship, and skill development initiatives + Mentor and develop team members, providing coaching, feedback and opportunities for growth + Identify training needs for the team and/or individuals within the team to help develop their career + Ensure team adherence to engineering best practice, standards, and processes + Identify resource needs, allocate staffing accordingly, and participate in the recruitment and hiring process as needed Project Engineer V key responsibilities include: **Communications** 1. Possesses exceptional skills in communication theories, presentation design, technical presentation, and writing specialized technical documents. 2. Can provide expert guidance on complex communication challenges, develop compelling narratives, tailor content for specific audiences, and provide expert consultation on presentation strategies and audience engagement methods. 3. Excels in writing technical documents with precision and accuracy. **Project Management** 1. Possesses expertise in preparing sophisticated financial reports, conducting detailed analysis, interpreting data, applying advanced accounting methodologies, and providing insights and recommendations based on financial information. 2. Has comprehensive knowledge of DoD project requirements for large and strategic projects, integrating engineering solutions in customer interactions, and directing resolution of complex technical challenges. 3. Has advanced proficiency in integrating Earned Value Management (EVM) with project management methodologies to oversee large DoD contracts, leading corrective actions and strategic adjustments based on sophisticated EVM analysis. 4. Has expertise in leading diverse teams, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration, implementing strategic initiatives, and effectively managing change. 5. Has an understanding of operational systems in project engineering, managing smaller projects, applying optimization techniques, participating in basic procurement activities, crafting persuasive and competitive proposals, managing complex schedules for large-scale projects, and grasping essential elements of supply chain coordination and subcontractor management related to engineering projects. **System Engineering** 1. Has a strong understanding of configuration management practices, logistics operations, MBSE tools, and program planning. 2. Has advanced skills in requirements analysis, prioritization, validation, risk analysis, and verification planning. 3. Ability to manage complex requirements, facilitate stakeholder negotiations, and develop risk mitigation plans. 4. Has good knowledge of verification planning processes, identifying and linking activities to system requirements and influencing verification strategies independently. **Integration & Testing** 1. Possesses advanced skills in component and subsystem integration, data acquisition, data cleaning, statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and measurement instrument operation. 2. Can handle complex design challenges, analyze software requirements, optimize designs for performance and scalability, and contribute to moderately complex software designs. 3.
