Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our customer-based engineering team. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient maintenance and enhancement of our legacy product lines while driving the development of custom equipment. The successful candidate will excel at resource allocation, process optimization, and team leadership, ensuring projects are delivered on time and in full compliance with design standards and customer requirements. This position is ideal for an Engineering Manager looking to remain closely involved in the engineering work.

ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers specializing in mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing disciplines.Develop a collaborative and innovative work environment to encourage problem-solving and continuous improvement.Provide training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to enhance team skills and performance.Allocate resources efficiently across multiple projects to ensure on-time delivery of project milestones and deliverables.Develop and maintain detailed engineering trees for each project to clearly define tasks, responsibilities, and timelines.Monitor project progress, resolve bottlenecks, and adjust plans as necessary to achieve objectives.Oversee the maintenance and modernization of legacy product lines, ensuring functionality and compliance with current standards and regulations.Update and standardize engineering drawings and documentation to ensure consistency, accuracy, and usability.Identify and select suitable replacement components for obsolete parts, considering performance, cost, and availability.Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to qualify new components and ensure seamless integration.Ensure all designs and engineering processes adhere to industry standards, company design standards, and regulatory requirements.Implement and uphold rigorous design standards across all engineering activities to maintain product reliability and quality.Manage design efforts to customize equipment within the limits of design standards.Assess customer requirements and recommend suitable parts and solutions from the product portfolio to meet their needs effectively.Partner with the Sales and Field Service teams to align technical capabilities with customer expectations.Coordinate efforts across mechanical, electrical, and process engineering to deliver integrated solutions.Generate 2D/3D unit layouts for production.Complete performance calculations to assist in specifying suitable equipment.Work closely with production, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless execution of engineering changes.Develop and implement efficient workflows and processes to streamline operations and enhance productivity.Identify opportunities for improving product design, manufacturing processes, and cost-efficiency.Foster a culture of innovation and proactive problem-solving to address current and future challenges.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or a related field. (A Master’s degree or professional engineering license is a plus.)Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.Progressive engineering experience in the civil explosives industry or in the production of cargo tanks for the transport of hazardous materials.Proven expertise in resource allocation, task planning, and project management.Experience with legacy product maintenance, including updating drawings and managing obsolete components.Strong understanding of industry design standards and regulatory compliance issues.Excellent analytical and decision-making skills to assess customer needs and recommend suitable solutions.Proficiency in engineering documentation tools (e.g., CAD, ERP systems) and project management software.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to lead teams and collaborate across departments.Additional Skills & QualificationsFamiliarity with lean manufacturing principles and process optimization techniques.Hands-on experience with hydraulics and electronic control systems.Knowledge of automation and digital tools for engineering and documentation management.Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities.Work Environment

This position is based at a large full-cycle manufacturing site. The team comprises Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Software Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers. The Engineering Manager will initially lead a small team of Mechanical Engineers on projects and grow from there. The company provides life insurance (1.5 x salary), short-term disability, long-term disability, and 401(k). The company pays 100% of the employees' insurance premium on the health savings account medical base plan, matches up to $500 towards the employee’s health savings account, and provides a company-paid hospital indemnity policy if the base plan is elected. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $160000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
