Engineering Manager
Description New Way Trucks, a leader in refuse truck manufacturing, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager. This role will oversee a team of mechanical engineers and design/drafters, ensuring the continued performance, reliability, and improvement of our existing product lines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, product lifecycle management, and cross-functional leadership within a manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Development Manage, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers and design/drafters. Assign projects, set priorities, and ensure efficient workflow within the team. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and accountability. Product Support & Sustaining Engineering Drive design improvements for existing refuse truck models, focusing on cost reduction, manufacturability, durability, and quality. Support production operations with timely resolution of engineering issues, including troubleshooting design and manufacturing challenges. Implement engineering changes (ECNs/ECRs) in collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with production, procurement, quality assurance, and service teams to support ongoing manufacturing processes and customer needs. Work closely with the New Product Development (NPD) team to ensure smooth product transitions and knowledge transfer. Engage with suppliers to address component-related issues and support cost-reduction initiatives. Project & Process Management Oversee multiple sustaining projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget. Establish and maintain engineering best practices, including design standards, documentation control, and product testing protocols. Utilize data-driven analysis to prioritize engineering projects based on business impact. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s degree preferred). 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in heavy equipment, automotive, or truck manufacturing. 2+ years of experience in a leadership or management role, with proven ability to develop and motivate engineering teams. Strong background in mechanical design, CAD software (SolidWorks preferred), and engineering documentation. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, structural design, hydraulics, and materials used in heavy-duty vehicles. Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and change management processes. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the refuse truck or heavy-duty vehicle industry. Working knowledge of hydraulic systems, welding processes, and structural analysis (FEA tools a plus). Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Strong project management skills with the ability to handle competing priorities. Key Competencies: Leadership: Ability to inspire, coach, and develop high-performing teams. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr. What is the overalldeductible?$750 person/$1,500 family per calendaryear.Generally, you must pay all the costs from providers up to the deductible amountbefore this plan begins to pay. If you have other family members on the plan, each family member must meet their own individual deductible until the total amount ofdeductible expenses paid by all family members meets the overall family deductible.Are there services coveredbefore you meet your deductible?Yes. The In-Network health and drug cardout-of-pocket maximum amounts accumulate together.The out-of-pocket limit is the most you could pay in a year for covered services. Ifyou have other family members in this plan, they have to meet their own out-ofpocketlimits until the overall family out-of-pocket limit has been met.What is not included in the out-of-pocket limit?Premiums, balance-billed charges, andhealth care this plan doesn’t cover.Even though you pay these expenses, they don’t count toward the out-of-pocket limit.Will you pay less if you use a Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Booneville,MS.
