Headquartered in Malvern, PA, CPI is supported by: >2,500 global associates, 7 manufacturing sites, 12 corporate offices and 43 service branches. **WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING** The **Engineering Manager** for the hardware team will provide dedicated electrical engineering expertise for a team focused on delivering cost reduction projects and engineering production support for various CPI product lines. You will have global management responsibilities for a team of electrical engineers. This team’s responsibilities will involve concept development and validation, prototype preparation, and design activities to improve quality, value and cost for CPI products. In addition, the engineering manager will cooperate with Quality, Production and Supply Chain departments whenever design engineering support is required. You will beresponsible for: · Creating and driving cost reduction activities to ensure targeted annual savings goals are met. You will have direct responsibility for delivering projects developed both within and outside Engineering. In addition, you will be responsible for identifying and implementing new cost saving opportunities on an on-going basis, requiring close coordination with CPI Purchasing and Supply Chain organizations. · Managing engineering-related production support activities. This includes prioritizing factory-raised issue resolution, customer report responses and other internal requests. You will ensure that factory product quality management teams are properly resourced and supported. · Analyzing and verifying alternate hardware designs and part sourcing opportunities and identify cost reduction opportunities . · Managing efforts to minimize supply chain gaps, maintain high production uptime and track end of life components and replacement projects. · Developing and maintaining inter-departmental working relationships to enable efficient information sharing and resource allocation. · Generating schematics and perform detailed circuit analysis to verify design compliance to specific performance targets. · Managing projects and creating/tracking project plans for PCBA redesign, supplier transfer, cost reductions and various other support projects. · Developing detailed product design knowledge. This ongoing responsibility is required to provide timely production support and identify potential cost reduction opportunities. · Participating in design reviews and design related brainstorming events. · Traveling to manufacturing, supplier, and customer sites as needed with appropriate notice. · Supporting activities within the global CPI Supply Chain Engineering team. **WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR** CPI is committed to hiring a diverse workforce and empowers our associates to promote new ideas and apply innovation to our world of payment technology solutions. You consider yourself an excellent problem solver, with a passion for learning, and possess well demonstrated success in engineering leadership and project management. **Qualifications and Requirements** · Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience · 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering and design · Management experience strongly desired · Must have experience in the design and development of digital and analogue electronics principles and design. · Familiarity with design and biasing of bipolar transistors and MOSFETs in oscillator and closed loop opto control systems. · Able to specify suitable opamp / comparator for specific functions without over specifying with cost disadvantage. · Track record in power switching circuits including the specification of suitable power switches and flywheel diodes. · Familiarity with resonant circuits based on opamp and comparitor building blocks. · Some background in motor drive systems, perhaps in choice of brushless dc motors and drivers. · Good awareness of optical and electromagnetic sensors and their functionality. · General awareness of new technologies and their benefits. · Able to use schematic capture [Cadstar, Mentor Graphics]. · Able to demonstrate technical expertise and technical delivery. · Able to develop and manage a sub-project within the broader constraints of the overall project plan. · Innovative and able to convert concepts into reality. · Practical application of electronics design relating to EMC theory. · Able to communicate, take part and contribute in technical discussions with other engineers and senior managers. · Experience with multidisciplinary design teams and awareness of tradeoffs between electrical hardware, software and mechanical solution approaches. · Ability to perform and interpret tolerance analysis using worst case and statistical methods · Must be able to work with and diverse teams spanning multiple sites as well as be able to work independently · Ability to travel up to 10% **Personal Attributes** · **Action Oriented:** You display a sense of urgency and are known for being a timely decision maker · **Analytical Thinker** : You need to have insight and enjoy solving problems · **Flexible:** You are comfortable wearing many hats and able to shift priorities as needed · **Comfortable with innovation:** You have passion for continuous improvement and are always seeking a better way to do things · **Team Player:** You are approachable, and willing to follow or lead based on the team’s need **WHAT WE’RE OFFERING** · Flexible work environment · Defined career growth plans with opportunities to go outside of your “comfort zone” · “Innovation Fridays” · Generous paid time off, including sick and holiday · Medical, dental, & vision insurance · 401K with Company contribution · Flexible spending accounts · Life insurance and disability benefits · Discounts for childcare · Tuition assistance · Community involvement and volunteering events · Opportunities to travel and work at our global sites Sound interesting?
