Engineering Manager - Data Governance

The data governance team builds services, systems, and product features to help our customers confidently bring their most sensitive data and workloads to Snowflake. We build scalable, intuitive, and robust capabilities to help our customers identify and track sensitive data; know the lineage and quality of the data to ensure its trustworthiness; control access based on the sensitivity of the data; track access; share and collaborate on sensitive data with high standards of compliance and governance. 

AS AN ENGINEERING MANAGER IN DATA GOVERNANCE, YOU WILL:Lead and drive projects from idea formulation, to design, and to implementation.Drive great partnership with the product management team.Set team strategy and be accountable for team plans and deliverables.Grow and build a strong, healthy, and diverse team through hiring as well as mentoring and coaching.Collaborate with other engineering teams and cross functional teams.Provide strong technical leadership to the team and partner teams.Understand deeply the state of art research and industry trends, and lead the team to build data governance features into Snowflake as an integrated service.

We expect our engineering managers to demonstrate a strong engineering background via their past experience both as engineers and as managers.

OUR IDEAL ENGINEERING MANAGER WILL HAVE:10+ years of experience in building large scale distributed systems, some of which are in databases, security and/or privacy domains.5+ years of experience in managing and leading engineering teams to build services and framework in the above domains.Strong collaboration and communication skills.Strong Computer Science fundamentals with expert-level development skills in Java or C++Experience with database systems and database internals, such as query engines and optimizers are a big plusExperience in building data security, data privacy and governance systems is a plusExperience with building large scale and sophisticated data pipelines is a plus

BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related majors, or equivalent experience.
