The Impact You’ll MakeThe Core Platform team focuses on creating a delightful developer experience that empowers engineers to build their features quickly and safely. We build paved roads so that product engineers can focus their efforts on building features that serve our neighbors and drive our business. We create infrastructure that makes the easy things work out of the box and the hard things possible.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing technical direction and guidance for the evolution of a Data Platform operating at a scale of tens of Petabytes. Today, our environment is primarily Spark hosted on Databricks Scaling an engineering team with a culture of high technical performance and pragmatic decision making You’ll build partnerships with key stakeholders, evangelize the use of the platform, and develop a roadmap for future development Participate in in-person Nextdoor events, trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and other team building exercises Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to the KIND culture that Nextdoor values What You’ll Bring To The Team 5+ Years of experience in a high performance distributed systems engineering environment, preferably working on large scale data intensive problems 1+ years of people management, leading technical teams in a fast moving data intensive domain and/or the ability to perform at an advanced level in the domain Strong technical background with the ability to set longer term architectural priorities while maintaining the ability to break those priorities into deliverable milestones Experience operating Spark, Delta Lake and the Databricks platform at scale Ability to drive a strong sense of ownership across the team, while celebrating wins and learning from experiments Experience guiding teams through planning, prioritization, and execution of work Collaborative, thoughtful, and strategic leadership; comfortable with open communication and giving/receiving constructive feedback respectfully Empathy and customer obsession for collaborating with other infra and product teams across the company RewardsCompensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create our rewards package. Total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $220,000 to $265,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role. Compensation may also vary by geography.
We expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date will take place within the first 3 months of your start date.
