**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Responsible for providing leadership and direction for the plant engineering and maintenance teams.
Will lead continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, tooling design, product packaging and plant layouts to reduce operating costs and improve equipment in the utilization and process throughput.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Ensure that the flow of production activities is continuous and devoid of any errors.
+ Manage and oversee manufacturing engineering activities for the division’s products.
+ Provide manufacturing and facility engineering support through project and capital program management. Facilitate project reviews to communicate progress. Update capital expenditure report. Support product engineering through concurrent engineering practices.
+ Lead manufacturing process and tooling regarding engineering efforts from concept through implementation, which address employee safety, ergonomics, ease of use, productivity, process capability, manufacturing throughput, and product quality. Support the safety committee and other team efforts through technical consultation.
+ Manage the environmental programs required to achieve compliance with all applicable regulations.
+ Continuously evaluate methods, material handling equipment, machinery, tooling, material components, and work environment to develop and implement health, safety, ergonomic and throughput improvements and/or cost reductions.
+ Provide technical support and guidance to the maintenance department.
+ Lead the design and application of finished product packaging that optimizes customer requirements against employee safety and productivity.
+ Provide leadership on the operating floor to all production personnel.
+ Be available at the start of shift to coordinate all personnel changes and adjust for a smooth flow of production
+ Facilitate/participate in bi-weekly shift change meetings with all production associates.
+ Train new hires on how to perform assigned tasks to current methods of manufacturing/inspection.
+ Develop and administer annual performance reviews for all manufacturing employees.
+ Direct, mentor, train, evaluate, and manage production staff.
+ Listen, act, and provide feedback to all associate suggestions or concerns.
+ Responsible for coaching, training, and developing production personnel in safety, quality, production, root cause problem solving, and technical and interpersonal communication skills.
+ Help to build and promote a strong “teamwork” environment in all areas that encourages response, quality, initiative, innovation, continuous improvement and process ownership.
+ Ensure appropriate, effective communication within departments, across shifts and to management as well as support areas.
+ Collaborate with management team to develop and implement short- and long-term strategies, including project leadership, staffing and employee engagement.
+ Address key issues and concerns when they arise.
+ Monitor product quality, understand and adhere to the concepts and techniques of the quality process.
+ Monitor production metrics, resolve production deficiencies and adjust production to improve metrics.
+ Provide leadership to empower the team to properly care for all equipment used in the manufacturing process.
+ Perform all departmental functions as workload requires including fill-in for absent employees, producing emergency/prototype orders or to maintain flow during peak workload periods. Requires an in-depth knowledge of all functions performed.
+ Coordinate and communicate the activities of all shifts in accordance with the overall objectives of manufacturing management.
+ Responsible for assuring the accuracy and completeness of all documentation and data entry associated with the team’s production process. This is to include such items as ERP, SPC charts, tool change orders, rejected material or parts tags and defect analysis worksheets.
+ Develop process improvements to increase production output, reduce scrap and increase quality.
+ Coordinate production line needs with material handlers to ensure material availability according to average daily production runs.
+ Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area including overall quality, cleanliness, efficiency, maintenance and organization of the entire production facility while remaining in compliance with the 5S system.
+ Convey a positive company image by conducting day to day duties in a professional and positive manner.
+ Act as a role model and leader for all employees.
+ Assist in the elimination of unsafe acts and injuries.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field is a plus. Completion of the LTC Supervisory Management Program and/or Materials Management Program is a plus.
+ Experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is a plus.
+ Engineering experience/background.
+ Experience with direct reports. Ability to lead and motivate people in a team environment, balance the demands of several work areas and to coordinate closely related work of a variety of employees.
+ Experience with automation is helpful.
+ Experience with a CapEx budget is helpful.
+ Strong knowledge of production, inventory and safety.
+ Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
+ Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
+ Skilled in performing detailed work with a high degree of accuracy.
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, customers, co-workers, and management.
+ Must be able to influence change & lead those who oppose change.
+ Ability to make quick and accurate decisions and work in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong Microsoft Office Suite and written communication skills.
+ Must be a US Citizen.
