Engineering Manager E&A, Project Execution

About the role

 

The Engineering Manager, Project Execution manages all aspects of projects from start to finish ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget and according to all technical BC standards and processes. The role will manage a portfolio of projects across multiple locations and potentially supervise project engineers leading their own portfolio of work. Projects in scope can be of multi discipline: civil, mechanical, electrical, energy, automation, MES. The internal key stakeholders to collaborate with are manufacturing cluster, plant leadership, global engineering, quality and safety functions. The Engineering Manager, Project Execution can also be responsible to support the Barry Callebaut Engineering COE department for the study and preparation of an assigned strategic investment project.

 

The Engineering Manager, Project Execution reports to the cluster Director of Engineering execution.

The internal key stakeholders to collaborate with are manufacturing cluster and plant leadership, global engineering, GBS engineers, external engineering companies, local engineering, quality & safety functions.

 

 

Key responsibilities include:

Project preparation and information phase

Performs detailed analysis of required processes, defines setup and equipment required. Communicates with all relevant stakeholders on the definitions of the project. Coordinates, assists and guides single large or multiple project teams at one given time. Safeguards the Engineering and QA standards during the project design phase. Establishes RFQ’s for procurement of all equipment and manages the procurement activities in close cooperation with sourcing. Establishes the optimum Detailed Time Schedule (DTS) and Financial follow-up data, to meet the required project objectives. Will always seek the best available solution for a given challenge, adhering to technical, environmental and economic requirements. Organizes and leads project steerco’s, on a planned base. Monitors activities, allocates resources, and assigns tasks to ensure targets are met.

 

Project execution and commissioning phase

Manages the project execution, after IP approval. Remains within the agreed timeline and budget. Ensures adherence to the local and highest safety rules, during the project execution. Manages all project on-site activities and resources, internal and external. Reports frequently and correctly to all stakeholders Executes all project related activities in close agreement and cooperation with site Management.

 

General Engineering supporting and ad hoc activities

Support and coach project engineers (in the region and in GBS) on project management and ensuring alignment with all BC standards and policies. Pro-actively engages in the use, promotion, training, definition and follow-up of the project documentation standards. Including all IT related project activities. Challenges existing standards and proposes possible improvements, working closely with COE department. Provides technical support when and where possible Follows technical market evolutions, collects and organizes its documentation for the BC community at large. Exchanges actively information with peers, be it local, regional or on corporate levels.

 

Scope:

Regional execution, hence all Barry Callebaut factories in the region: chocolate (liquid & molded), Cocoa, PDI.

 

About you

Master degree in Engineering or equivalent through experience 8+ years of experience in an project engineering environment, food process industry Project team leadership Technical skills to understand and develop all core processes Accounting & budgeting skills 2D CAD proficient, 3D CAD knowledge Knowledgeable in MS Office Suite, SAP and engineering software Stakeholder management English - advanced level Regional mobility is a key requirement Excellent time management skills, including the ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines Strong can do attitude and problem solving skills Experience in an engineering environment, process industry Thorough knowledge of product-, people-, waste- and packaging-flows in factories Background in equipment construction and welding technologies Background in process automation Basic accounting & budgeting skills (business cases, feasibility studies) Leadership experience (situational leadership) to get cooperation from multiple experts in project organizations Ability to build and set-up project teams and own organization Make it happen mentality, ability to mobilize people Solution oriented negotiator Ability to create partnership with suppliers Collaborative leadership style, achieving goals through influence Craftsmanship must be highly valued & respected

 

Travel requirements: 30 - 50% depending on the needs and the open projects. High flexibility is expected
