Engineering Manager - Hardware Test Management

Context

ASML US, including its affiliates and subsidiaries, bring together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler, Arizona, San Jose and San Diego, California, Wilton, Connecticut, and Hillsboro, Oregon.


The Test and Measurement Facility (TMF) is a multi-disciplined team of engineers, who’s focus is on initial design qualification and risk reduction testing to improve product quality at our end customer. TMF is responsible for: designing and developing engineering tests, test equipment, design feasibility tests, robustness and reliability tests, (high acceleration) lifetime tests, test execution, and test reporting (TMF is not a manufacturing test facility).

Requirements

A degree in Engineering, math, or science is required. Relevant experience required as outlined below.
• Bachelors with minimum 6 years’ experience
• Masters with minimum 4 years’ experience
• PhD with minimum 2 years’ experience
Relevant experience as outlined above includes:
• Minimum qualifications – the hired candidate must possess all of the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for the position including:
o Required educational background with experience
o Required technical skills (i.e. calculations, mass/balance, etc.)
o Knowledge/hands-on experience with industry standard software/technical tools (i.e. Solidworks, NX, etc.)
o Soft skill requirements (i.e. strong English communication skills – both written and oral, ability to influence, etc.).
o Minimum of 2 years of direct management, project management, or similar leadership experience in a technical field.

Responsibilities

As the Manager of the TMF Team, you will be responsible for leading a team of 20 plus direct reports. Your direct reports will primarily be Architects, Project Leads, Team Leads, Test and Measurement Engineers, multidisciplinary Test Stand Design Engineers, and Technicians.


As direct line manager, you will partner closely with the Product Managers, Project Managers regarding present and future scope and timing of deliverables to support ASML product development. You will be accountable for the quality, technical integrity, and planning for on time execution of deliverables. Collaborate on project planning, attend design reviews, and review and approve technical documentation. Be responsible for hiring direct, contract, and intern/Co-Op employees. Meet regularly one on one with your team members and hold regular team meetings to provide mentoring, coaching, and career development guidance. Collect feedback, provide input to salary and promotion decisions, and deliver annual performance evaluations. You will also be challenged to identify and lead continuous improvement projects that improve the way of working, increase collaboration, and streamline our ASML processes.


• Responsible for people management and career development activities including recruiting, onboarding, training, mentoring, coaching, and performance evaluation.
• Responsible for leading a group to develop and realize engineering tests and test equipment, including operation, analysis, and reporting of results.

Define the requirements of the TMF engineering labs/clean rooms over time by determining the needs, and providing these details to the D&E Lab Management Team.
• Work with multiple engineering disciplines and co-developers to ensure timely realization of tests and test results.
• Support multi-disciplinary development projects, such as robotics, mechatronics, optical systems.
Public
• Develop the skillsets within the TMF Team to successfully realize leading edge tests to support the development of lithography machines.

Responsible for resource management working with Product Managers and Project Leaders to anticipate staffing and skillset needs and to optimally allocate work.
• Lead continuous improvement projects to further improve the quality and efficiency of the organization. This includes collaboration with other ASML sites globally that also have TMF functions.
• Create and maintain a collaborative and safe work environment that is team oriented
• Be an advocate for preforming all work safely, consistently, and correctly

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work.
