Engineering Manager I

As our Engineering Manager, you will transform the process safety culture and standards of the plant, lead installation of new equipment, modification of existing equipment, support continuous improvement of the production lines, and support, develop, and train your team of professionals. This role will give you a chance to join the plant leadership team and significantly impact the strategic direction of the facility and will allow you to gain recognition for leading key initiatives.

What You Will Do:

Leadership

Take an active role in all aspects of safety and take responsibility for the safety of self and othersTransform the process safety of the site and implement solutions to avoid process safety and personal safety eventsFollow company standards (Ecolab Code of Conduct) and plant work rulesTrain, support, and develop your team in chemical manufacturing design standards, technical solutions, process safety, customer service, and designing for safety and quality right the first timeBe an integral member of the plant staff guiding strategic direction and being a great team member who leads by exampleMake decisions and sets priorities tied to the plant, division, and company prioritiesMaximize the engagement of your team through exceptional managerial behaviorManage the contractors program at the site and actively sustain the right suppliers in this domain to deliver high quality contracting to the site

Delivering Results

Work independently in technical execution on difficult technical projectsDrive process safety incidences lower year after yearPass all Certification, qualification, and verification milestones for capital project startupsProperly forecast capital spend and startup costsProactively identify opportunities and threats in the business environment and articulate those to leadership, developing countermeasures accordinglyEffectively manage projects through all stages – plan and direct all phases of the manufacturing engineering program for the facilityTrain, coach and mentor team in expertiseDevelop value added solutions with significant reach and/or impactLead complex programs and initiativesProactively resolve conflict to maintain team members’ focus on resultsDrive team consensus on challenging issuesMaintain working relationships, respect and trustArticulate messages, including complex technical concepts, in a way that is broadly understoodMake decisions and set priorities tied to plant goals and strategies

Talent Development

Assist in the training of coworkers and temporary/interimsSuccessfully complete classroom, computer-based training, and on the job training as required

Proactively resolve conflict to maintain team members’ focus on resultsDevelop relationships across geographical and functional boundariesProactively leverage peer industry network to facilitate sharing innovative technologies

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in EngineeringMinimum 7 years of related engineering experienceMinimum 3 years of project/program/team leadership experience (Major Capital Project TIC $5M+)Prior people leadership experienceImmigration sponsorship not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced technical degree a plusPrior chemical operations experienceBasic knowledge of manufacturing operations
