Box is looking for visionary technical leaders for our engineering teams in Warsaw, who will lead, inspire, and mentor engineers, while bridging communication between the US and Poland engineering hubs, and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. The engineering manager role at Box involves spearheading significant technology initiatives, overseeing the entire lifecycle of projects across multiple architectural layers. Your knowledge can be vital for improving Box product and solving exciting challenges related to Cloud Content Management.
We are currently looking for leaders for the following teams:
Shield - Building advanced security capabilities such as integrating AI into automated classification, enhancing device security posture checks, extending security measures down to endpoint protection, and more. Relay - This is one of the core capabilities of Box platform, which enables our customers to automate routine workflows. This product saves time for millions of users, and allows them to focus on truly creative and meaningful tasks. Desktop Applications team at Box is responsible for such innovative products as Box Drive and Box Tools. The first one allows users to access, sync, and manage their files in the Box cloud directly from their desktops, ensuring seamless collaboration and robust security. Box Tools complements this by enabling users to create, edit, and open files using their favorite native desktop applications, with automatic synchronization back to the cloud. Mobile - This team is responsible for creation of powerful mobile solutions which empower our users to stay productive no matter where they are! Our Android and iOS apps allow users to access, share, and manage their files stored in the Box cloud from anywhere, ensuring seamless collaboration and top-notch security.Your expertise is essential to our journey in shaping tomorrow's content management landscape!
Who you are
Ideally, you have over 2 years of experience as a software engineering manager, leading teams responsible for high-scale production services. You possess at least 5 years of professional software development experience, contributing to the development of full-stack web applications and/or distributed systems. You excel at aligning and executing new technical ideas, demonstrating an understanding of best practices. Proven experience in driving effective execution with agile processes in a dynamic environment. A people-oriented leader, capable of modelling and fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture. Exceptional at communicating, passionate about technology and committed to raising the bar. Experience working with distributed teams across different time zones is advantageous. Proficient in English.Bonus Points
Hands-on experience designing and building cloud-native architecture for AWS, GCP, or similar. Lead a team of experienced engineers in Poland. Define the team's roadmap, execution plans, and take ownership of project delivery. Develop team members through 1:1s, career planning, coaching discussions, and hiring. Uphold values by building a collaborative, inclusive team focused on customer impact. Cultivate a culture of excellence through emphasis on execution, quality, and scale. Organize stand-ups, sprint planning, technical discussions, and manage sprint task statuses. Collaborate with product teams to scope new features, provide project estimates, and inform quarterly commitments. Work with cross-functional partners and stakeholders to ensure the team delivers significant business impact. Represent Box internally and externally.Methodology
