The Engineering Manager of AI Platforms is an Engineering Manager who leads the AI Platform and Operations team to build a new platform to re-imagine AI delivery and scalability across the organization. As a player-coach, the Engineering Manager of AI Platforms actively contributes to platform development while leading a team of platform engineers and collaborating with embedded engineers. The Engineering Manager of AI Platforms writes code, reviews pull requests, and dives deep into technical challenges while building and growing a high-performing engineering team. The Engineering Manager of AI Platforms partners with product management to drive platform development through both technical contribution and leadership. Engineering team. **Major Responsibilities -** **Team Leadership & Development:** + Build and lead a high-performing team of platform engineers, including hiring, coaching, and career development + Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning + Partner with product and project management on sprint planning while managing team capacity and resource allocation + Partner with embedded engineers to ensure effective collaboration and feedback loops with product pods + Drive team alignment around platform vision and objectives + Provide regular feedback and practices across teams **Required Qualifications -** + Proven ability to lead technical teams delivering substantial features + Current hands-on coding abilities with recent experience contributing to production systems + Strong technical background in platform engineering, MLOps, or similar domains with demonstrated coding expertise + Experience leading teams while maintaining significant technical contributions + Deep Python development expertise with focus on building scalable systems + Track record of successful hiring, coaching, and growing engineering teams + Strong understanding of ML systems, workflows, and operational requirements through direct implementation + Experience with modern Python development practices including type checking, linting, testing frameworks, and package management + History of successful partnership with product management and stakeholders while remaining technically hands-on **Preferred Qualifications -** **Leadership & Management:** + Experience building and leading platform or infrastructure teams + Track record of growing engineers into technical leadership roles + Experience managing distributed or embedded engineering teams + Strong background in agile development and team processes **Technical Knowledge:** + Experience with GCP and managed ML services + Understanding of modern MLOps practices and tools + Familiarity with ML frameworks and development workflows + Knowledge of containerization and orchestration platforms + Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation **ML Platform & Architecture:** + Understanding of ML lifecycle management and MLOps best practices + Familiarity with feature stores, model serving platforms, and ML metadata systems + Knowledge of distributed training and Science, Data Science, AI, or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory for candidates demonstrating significant experience and a proven track record in the field of AI/ML and platform development + Master's or higher degree is a plus + 6-7 years of relevant engineering experience with at least 1 year of experience leading others - Required + 2-3 years of experience with ML and/or
