Engineering Manager - Switchgear Controls

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Engineering Manager - Switchgear Controls.

 

The expected annual salary range for this role is $123750.0 - $181500.0 a year.

Are you ready to lead and innovate? We’re looking for a dynamic Switchgear Controls Engineering Manager to join our team at the South Milwaukee, WI manufacturing plant. Relocation from within the U.S. is provided!

 

As the Switchgear Controls Engineering Manager, you will drive innovation by owning the design and development roadmaps for switchgear controls and control sub-systems for our medium voltage Recloser and Padmount Switchgear portfolios. You will lead a talented team of engineers, mentoring and developing them to foster growth and build the organizational capability of the entire engineering group. In addition, you will collaborate cross-functionally with diverse project and product line teams to ensure our control products meet a wide range of business requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

•    Lead & Manage: Manage team of engineers and technicians with various experience levels developing their overall capabilities to meet and exceed goals.  Influence peers and division/corporate controls teams to align with and ensure high level goals are achieved.
•    Innovate & Improve: Lead team to develop, maintain, and improve intelligent embedded control and communication products to achieve cost, performance, and reliability targets.
•    Think & Act Strategically: Develop and execute breakthrough strategies to develop new products, improve existing products, and sunset aged products that factor in the competitive landscape and adapt to new technology trends.  Strive to grow the business and outperform markets.
•    Ensure Safety: Oversee electronics lab and associated test equipment ensuring electrical safety and overall compliance to safety protocols.  Drive product safety into product requirements and design decisions.
•    Drive Efficiency: Champion continuous improvement mindset by leveraging digital modeling, tools and processes to enhance engineering efficiency.  Instill effective decision making and prioritization to balance trade-offs and achieve stretch goals.
•    Execute Projects: Lead, facilitate and participate in the activities of a cross-functional team to plan and execute continuous improvement and new product development projects from specification and procurement to verification and commissioning. Accurately communicate status and quality of projects and deliverables to team, management, and stakeholders.
•    Strive for Excellence: Set ambitious goals, measure performance, and constantly seek ways to improve processes, products, and services.

Qualifications:

Basic (Required) Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
•    Minimum of eight (8) years of engineering experience.
•    Must be able to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Five or more years of engineering experience working with industrial controls with strong emphasis on circuit board design, verification, and manufacturing test.
•    Two or more years of experience in a manager of people role.
•    Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent.
•    Experience with power systems protection relays and control systems.
•    Experience with digital and analog designs, schematic capture and PCB layout including CPU, memory, IO, UART, ADC, FPGA, logic circuits and power supply designs.
•    Problem solving experience using Root Cause Analysis techniques.
•    Product design, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing knowledge.
