BWXT is currently seeking an Engineering Process Improvement Manager for its Advanced Technologies location in Lynchburg, VA!

Job Description / Duties:

Responsible and accountable for all engineering policies and procedures for BWXT AT.  Lead continuous improvement efforts of existing policies and procedures, as well as development of new policies and procedures. Responsible and accountable for the engineering training curricula and qualification program(s) for BWXT AT. Establish and maintain specific training material for the architecture of engineering policies and procedures. Develop and track various metrics for engineering leadership to monitor the health and performance of the Engineering organization. Metrics may be specific to programs or the overall Engineering organization. Address Corrective Action Reports related to engineering policies, procedures, training, and qualifications in a timely manner.  Conduct Apparent Cause Analyses and Root Cause Analyses. Serve as the primary point of engagement for the engineering organization on other business improvement initiatives that may impact the organization. Lead focused initiatives to improve tools such as software and hardware in the engineering organization for efficiency gains. Participate actively in engineering organization audits. Perform additional duties as required by the Director of Engineering.

 

Job Qualification / Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related field is required. A minimum of ten (10) years of demonstrated work experience in an engineering related field or similar role is required.  A combination of engineering and lean six sigma experience is acceptable. A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in a leadership role is required. Must have an understanding of engineering design processes, interactions between disciplines, and lifecycle stages for complex new product designs in the nuclear or aerospace industries.   Experience working with and coordinating well with multiple intercompany organizations and disciplines is required. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate with all levels of the organization. Must be able to self-direct with minimal day-to-day supervision. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and/or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

 

Additional Desired Skillsets:

Prior experience with generating and maintaining organizational procedures and policies in the nuclear industry. Prior experience with the development and management of an engineering training and qualification program. Prior experience in a Supervisory, Project Engineering, or Project Management role. Familiarity or experience with the tools and methodologies used for the design and analysis of reactor systems.  (e.g. computer analysis tools typically used in the nuclear industry and NRC topical reports) Fluent in the use of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. Familiarity with the requirements of quality programs such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and/or NQA-1. Experience working with U.S. government customers (e.g., DOE, DOD, NASA, and National Labs) Active DOD or DOE security clearance.

 

 

Pay: $98,000.00 - $154,000.00

 

The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $98,000.00 and $154,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
