Engineering Process Supervisor
Summary\r

Supervises the activities of engineering/laboratory technologists and/or highly skilled production and inspection employees engaged in various phases of conducting and evaluating environmental or nondestructive tests, calibrating and maintaining environmental and nondestructive testing equipment, and/or conducting precision measurement utilizing coordinate measuring machines, and in calibrating and maintaining environmental and nondestructive testing equipment. May supervise employees in one or more fabrication or material production functions, such as the Polymer Production Facility (PPF), or Precision Measurement and/or X-Ray. Follows and promotes Kansas City Division's core values.

Duties and Responsibilities\rUtilizes and motivates employees to obtain maximum output in terms of quality and performance; implements HOS methodologyIn some areas, works closely with planning and purchasing functions to ensure the availability of expense and floor stock materials and procurement of raw materialsMatches resources (equipment and personnel) to plan work assignments, batch sizes, and production quantitiesAssures compliance to and encourages employee involvement in Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) activities, security policies, good housekeeping and cost effectivenessImplements quality policies and delegates and disseminates instructions to staffTrains or provides training for laboratory employeesSets appropriate schedules and priorities and controls quality and costsSuggests and effects changes, improvements and new laboratory technologies, methods and equipment in accordance with quality objectivesCoordinates activities with, product process, metrology and gage engineer, production control, inspection supervision, and design agencies and others to improve testing servicesPromotes and supports continuous improvement and employee involvement activitiesDirectly supervises employees and performs other managerial responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problemsMay perform other duties as requiredYou Must Have\rMust have or be able to obtain a DOE security clearanceUS Citizenship required for obtaining and maintaining a government security clearanceBachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience, or Associate's degree and 3 years of related experience, or HS diploma/certification and 4 years of related experienceTwo or more years experience leading a staff and/or project teamWe Value\rExperience reflective of ability to read and write complex laboratory, precision measurement, X-ray and related instructionsWorking knowledge of production planning methods, quality operations, and laboratory protocolExperience with measurement equipment and interpretation of measurement errorExperience with manufacturing X-ray equipment and operationExperience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)Strong computer aptitude including ability to manage and interpret technical dataStrong organizational and project planning and project management skillsEvidence of ability to communicate on multiple levels, including upper management and design agency stakeholdersFamiliarity working with bargaining unit staff and contract
