Engineering Project Manager

The Engineering Project Manager will:
• Collaborate with cross functional development team(s) to lead the introduction of process automation that is on time, to budget and with zero quality/compliance issues.
• Identify new opportunities for automation within the manufacturing process.
• Liaise with external automation development partners as required to ensure they meet agreed project objectives.
• Contribute to all stages of process development from planning, proposal, budgeting, purchase, through execution, delivery and review.
• Costs: Work with subject matter experts to ensure that defined budgets are in place for services and tools/equipment.
• Develops plans with core automation team members to eliminate and/or mitigate risk.
• Lead activities on assigned project within the Engineering team to ensure new automation solutions are designed, delivered programmed & qualified on time, within budget and with high quality.
• Lead design and development of controls solutions to ensure process OEE is maximised and maintained.
• Develop and maintain clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment and processes.
• Proactively research new technologies within all areas of automation, software systems and tools for potential adoption in processes.
• Be responsible for Software Engineering in the area of machine and manufacturing process control.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to fully comprehend automation issues, gather information and troubleshoot/ solve problems.
• Work with the automation team to ensure any equipment downtime issues are resolved in minimal time and lessons learned incorporated to prevent reoccurrence.
• Work with Quality & Validation teams to ensure all processes are qualified in line with required standards.
• Ensure system maintenance and backups are completed at appropriate intervals.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing tasks within time standards, efficiently, as needed.
• Provide staff training on automation specific topics where necessary.
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university in automation, mechanical, electrical/electronic, or software discipline with minimum 5 years’ experience supporting or developing automated assembly systems.
+ Stronger Mechanical and Engineering knowledge to design the automation lines based on the process needs. Have the capability to conducts feasibility studies of the design to determine ability to function as intended. Uses the data to drive design iterations.
+ Stronger ability to initiate technical review to ensure design can meet the process and product needs.
+ Ability to review tooling development with suppliers and mechanical failure analysis during design phase.
+ 3D/2D mechanical design with SolidWorks.
+ Ability to work in a matrixed and geographically diverse business environment. Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.
+ Strong project management skills – focusing on management of project timing, costs, and risks.
+ Demonstrated capability in process development and transformation.
+ Strong understanding of automation standards, architecture, and related automation systems, including process control systems.
+ Proven programming, troubleshooting and maintenance ability with PLCs, including hardware layout and software applications, ideally across several industrial platforms.
+ Good knowledge of PLC, Fieldbus and HMI systems.
+ Ability to read and interpret maintenance procedures, equipment manuals, work orders, and electrical schematics to perform required maintenance, servicing and troubleshooting.
+ Experienced in use of common robotic systems.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills to support virtual program management requirements & to present updates at multiple levels in the organization.
+ Written/verbal English language skills to enable participation in conferences calls with global team.
+ Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
+ Demonstrates self-direction and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to lead an engineering project team as required.
+ Available to work overtime/shift hours when required to resolve urgent plant issues.
