Position Overview

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering (KIWE) has an immediate opening for a dynamic Engineering Services Project Manager in our engineering group. You will be part of our growing engineering services team focused on managing engineering projects and working with clients to help build and maintain relationships. This role is crucial as we offer a Solutions Provider mentality that exceeds client expectations, compliments our EPC business and furthers Kiewit’s legacy of excellence.   
 

Kiewit’s Industrial markets include food & beverage, pulp & paper, industrial power, bulk manufacturing, mineral processing, industrial water and advanced manufacturing.  Specifically, you will participate in client discussions, scope definition, engineering estimating, proposals and manage technical projects with multi-discipline engineering scope.  Working with our technical subject matter experts, this scope can range from studies to conceptual design to detailed engineering design.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to help develop and/or enhance our engineering services business and execution tools.
This position requires an experienced professional capable of balancing multiple competing priorities, either on single larger projects or across many unrelated smaller projects. These priorities include, but are not limited to managing client expectations, maintaining positive and engaging client communication, and managing multi-discipline engineering teams to meet project requirements within budgeted time and price.  Internal communication with department managers for appropriate resources will also be critical.

Our rapidly growing Industrial Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused our Industrial markets. 

Location

This position is based out of our Lenexa Kansas office, and may require up to 20% travel on average based on project demands. We offer relocation assistance to the area.  

Responsibilities

o    Direct the development and oversee the implementation of the project execution plan including deliverables lists, schedule, budget, and manpower projections for engineering projects.
o    Schedule and lead project team meetings as required.
o    Coordinate client billings with the Kiewit business management team
o    Monitor and report project progress against the execution plan, take appropriate corrective action if progress falls behind the plan
o    Monitor, control, and report project expenditures against the budget.
o    Oversee contract change notice management process as required
o    Communicate project status to Kiewit Management, such as providing regular weekly reports, monthly reports, and other reports as required
•    Seek ways to improve customer satisfaction and operating efficiencies
•    Lead project planning processes within the pursuit and proposal phase; synthesize the required scope and collaborate with company resources, SME’s and functional leadership in preparing written technical engineering scope, development of services estimate, organizational charts, schedule and other proposal deliverables
•    Through engaging communication, provide technical expertise, establishment of team goals, and alignment with project objectives
•    Develop and execute a communications plan, ensuring team members are informed of strategy, shared goals, objectives, milestones, individual responsibilities, best practices, and policies.
•    Overall management of the project design team
•    Engage with client to fully understand operations priorities and ensures their implementation through the design
•    Identify, evaluate, and document risks inherent in the project that could materially impact the overall success and develop a mitigation plan, jointly between Kiewit and the client, to best allocate the risk and associated mitigation items
•    Coordinate discussions on project design and performance status with Clients 
•    Work within a matrix environment to communicate and coordinate resource needs
 

Qualifications

•    Bachelor's Degree in mechanical, process, chemical, civil/structural, or electrical engineering; or related field
•    Minimum 10 years' experience in increasingly challenging positions, preferably in an engineering organization where you have performed Engineering Design and engineering management/project management functions.  
•    5+ years’ experience performing engineering-related design or management within the industrial market, preferred
•    5+ years’ experience in a consulting role, preferred
•    Strong negotiation, presentation and persuasion skills, as well as excellent organizational and time management skills.  . 
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in communicating ideas, winning approval, and reaching resolutions with a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
•    Ability and experience managing projects (scope, schedule, budget, resources)  and able progress ideas to execution in a complex environment.
•    Strong analytical ability along with the capacity to interpret data and make recommendations that are technical in scope.
•    Comfortable with change and ambiguity; adaptable, collaborative and a systems thinker.
•    Must be self-motivated, results oriented and must constantly coach in order to develop team members.
•    Attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
•    Ability to work well as part of a team, highly collaborative
