Primary Role
The Engineering Project Specialist is responsible for assisting engineering project managers in coordinating and administering design and construction of water resource projects, and support capital teams on tasks related to tracking and management of the overall capital program. Duties include all or part of the following: data input/analysis for department processes and report generation; capital project spend tracking; fixed asset and job cost order processing; expense spend tracking; inventory control, asset records management; preparation and maintenance of documentation, general support and administration of projects and department needs, and special projects.
Key Accountabilities Assist capital program management and project management teams in the implementation and administration of the InVision & eBuilder applications Assist the engineering team in various data quality assurance activities such as data formatting, data quality control and data / file uploading to various enterprise systems Assist in the management and tracking of the electrical safety program Assist in tracking recommendations from our property insurer and the resolution of issues Support the engineering function to drive completion of established initiatives Coordination of data requests from and to the business Effectively coordinate and administer functional support work processes for activities including design, project delivery and construction for varying water resource system projects. Input and analyze data for department work processes, business systems and reports. Prepare variance reports as required. Assists in preparation of documents related to the capital program budget. Assists in monitoring expenditures to budget according to the Capital Program Management policies and procedures. Prepare and analyze or contribute to department or functional key performance indicator reports. Support the management and appropriate record retention of files, records, drawings, reports, maps, charts, budgets, and other data related to engineering and construction projects Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of InVision application preferred Knowledge of eBuilder application preferred General knowledge of engineering design theory and practice, project management, construction and contract management, water resources, water/wastewater facilities and/or utility operations. Sound business acumen and judgment. Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines. Effective quantitative and analytical skills; attention to detail. Effective verbal and written communications skills (e.g., report writing, listening, and presentation). Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., tact/diplomacy, persuasion, team building, cooperation, leadership, ability to motivate others. Experience/Education Associate’s degree in Applied Science, Project Management, Engineering, or Engineering Technology. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
