**The opportunity**
We are looking for an Engineering Project Team Lead to join the Grid Code Integration team at Caterpillar (N.I.) situated at Larne. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within the Caterpillar Electric Power, Large Electric Power Solutions (LEPS) team.
The Grid Code Integration team is responsible for understanding global grid codes, facilitating evaluation of technical requirements and product capability, and managing grid code certification of Caterpillar Electric Power products including gas and diesel generating sets, hybrid products such as bi-directional power inverters and the range of Cat Energy Control System (ECS) controls.
This role provides a unique opportunity for an Engineering Project Team Lead to develop their project management abilities within an experienced team working on various grid code certification projects. For the right candidate, this role will include opportunities to collaborate with multiple Engineering teams and stakeholders across the Large Electric Power Solutions (LEPS), Large Power Systems Division (LPSD), and Electrification and Energy Solutions (E+ES) teams to facilitate product certification for grid code applications.
As the Engineering Project Team Lead, you will primarily lead the Engineering evaluation of global grid code technical requirements and manage the grid code certification of Caterpillar Electric Power products. You will lead the collaboration with multiple external service providers to plan and execute the different phases of grid code testing, reporting and certification. You will be expected to work with limited supervision to drive process efficiency, lead efforts to update and maintain grid code documentation, and support customers by coordinating responses to technical sales support requests.
Additionally, you will support the development of Cat ECS controls by leading requirements definition for grid code functions; facilitating collaboration with subject matter experts, software development, testing and validation teams to maintain product compliance with new and emerging grid codes.
**What you will do:**
+ Manage the global grid code certification of Caterpillar Electric Power products; liaising with third-party certification bodies and measurement institutes to plan, coordinate and execute grid code compliance testing, test reporting and certification phases of grid code projects.
+ Lead the evaluation of product capability to fulfil global grid code technical requirements working across multiple Caterpillar teams and across divisions, creating concise reports and working with Product Definition teams to prioritise product development activities.
+ Drive process efficiency by overseeing the development and implementation of new processes and tools to evaluate grid codes and execute product certification.
+ Lead maintenance of grid code certifications including updates to certificates, manufacturer declarations, and technical sales support documentation.
+ Support customers by coordinating the response to grid code technical sales support requests working across multiple Caterpillar teams and divisions.
+ Support development of Cat ECS controls by leading requirements definition for grid code functions; facilitating collaboration with subject matter experts, software development, testing and validation teams to investigate issues, prioritise response and resolve requirements definition.

+ Oversees grid code certification activities for Caterpillar gas and diesel generator sets and/or hybrid products including bi-directional power inverters.
+ Advises colleagues on implementation and operational considerations.
+ Coaches others on key factors that differentiate offerings from that of competition.
+ Develops procedures for product planning, development, and delivery cycles.
+ Monitors regulatory issues and considerations.
Project Management - Level Expert:
+ Capable to lead a cross-functional and cross-organisational project team to deliver grid code certification within agreed timelines.
+ Comfortable to facilitate project activities and deep dive into technical issues when needed.
+ Ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
+ Manages multiple high-risk, high-cost projects involving multiple stakeholders.
+ Monitors industry for fresh approaches and tools for project management.
Influencing Through Expertise - Level Extensive Experience:
+ Communicates complex ideas and concepts in a clear and concise manner so that others can understand.
+ Exhibits depth and breadth of knowledge, skill, and experience in grid code application.
+ Provides relevant, timely and objective subject matter/process expertise and key insight regarding multiple client business areas and affiliated fields.
Requirements Analysis - Level Extensive Experience:
+ Plays an active or leading role in analysing, evaluating and understanding grid code technical requirements and leading engineering teams to determine product capability.
+ Ensures the successful completion of all major activities, tasks and deliverables pertaining to the requirement analysis stage.
+ Supervises the advanced use of requirements analysis tools and services, including prototyping and use cases.
Product Design and Development - Level Extensive Experience:
+ Develops organizational standards and processes in order to drive efficiency and effectiveness in the grid code evaluation and certification processes.
+ Creates and introduces new techniques that expedite or simplify the development process.
**Additional information:**
This role will have 10%-20% travel requirement.
