The Engineering Quality specialist plays an impacting role in the maintenance of the Engineering Quality System and Airworthiness Certifications and in ensuring compliance of the engineering processes with the Customers and Authorities requirements for the various programs where Avio Aero is involved with design tasks. Covering this role you will support the engine programs handling a wide set of issues and interacting with various roles within and outside Engineering.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities      

The person in charge of this role will work on Engineering processes and procedures, transversally across the various programs (NPI and legacy), identifying improvement areas and to supporting, from a quality system point of view, the management of the variety of Configuration Control and Quality issues; he/she will contribute actively to the improvement of the Engineering processes through the coordination of procedures, in synergy with the Audit team and the integrated risk management process.

More in details the Engineering Quality specialist will:

Lead the coordination of the GE Avio Engineering procedures system according to the Certification Authorities and Customers requirements

Support process improvements in Engineering procedures, ensuring synergy with the improvement initiatives in the company (Lean)

Support Engineering functions and Quality during the third party audits (Civil and Military Regulators, Customers, Consortiums,…)

Work on the definition of joint configuration management plans in coordination with Partners and/or Customers for new programs

Provide support to the design teams whenever there is an issue related to Configuration Control, Specs configuration and Engineering Quality

Support the DOA (civil and military) Certification maintenance, working with the Airworthiness team, to ensure alignment of the processes and procedures with the EASA Requirements

Contribute to the awareness initiatives towards the Engineering team to promote the compliance of Avio Aero and/or specific Customer and Regulatory requirements

Support the definition of the corrective and preventive action plans originated by ISM audits and ensure their embodiment

Lead the prioritization definition of the task on Procedures in coordination with the Integrated Risk Management process

Qualifications/Requirements 

Master Degree in Engineering from an accredited university (Mechanical/Aeronautical/Management Engineering are preferred)

Knowledge of Aerospace regulations

Past experience on Aerospace Quality System

Good understanding of design processes

Familiarity with Quality System standards: EN9100 certification, Policy & Procedures management (Aviation sector preferred)

Knowledge of Airworthiness regulations (i.e. EASA Part 21)

Basic knowledge of interpretation of engineering documentation (drawing and drafting standards,…)

Knowledge of lean methodologies (VSM, PSR, …)

English and Italian language knowledge, both written and oral

Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required

Desired Characteristics

Familiarity with Configuration Management policies and principles

Previous experience in Audit execution

Ability to navigate through the aeronautical Certification Specifications;

Knowledge of PLM tools to manage configuration control and technical documentation (preferred Windchill)

Knowledge of BPR (Business Process Reengineering) tools to perform process mapping

Familiarity with Export Control rules (EU, US, IT regulations): Avio Aero or GE tagger qualification is appreciated

Knowledge of project management methodologies

Capability of providing support to the Engineering team by engaging the experts for the various topics

Proactivity and capability of organizing autonomously work.
