Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC) has a created a dynamic and efficient technical organization to support the daily operations of manufacturing. The role of this position is to continue creating, implementing, and launching technical training, framework, and systems, which will be used in the engineering services and maintenance departments. This person will be a part of and lead a team of engineers and maintenance members to plan, manage, and provide engineering solutions to improve manufacturing KPIs and manage process changes. Primarily, this person will instill a culture of continuous improvement, creating a collaborative team in a manufacturing organization who takes pride in the technical department of engineering services and maintenance. Reporting to Senior Engineering Services Manager, and this individual will work in partnership with maintenance, production, and other departments. A successful candidate must exhibit Toyota Way leadership values, Respect for People and Continuous Improvement Activity. They must be able to navigate complex problem solving at the regional/global level. A successful candidate must be effective at identifying and removing barriers that hinder progress of the Engineering Services/Maintenance departments. The candidate must decide, manage, and assign appropriate work priorities to direct reports as well as develop and execute schedule for said priorities and report their status to senior management group. **What you’ll be doing** + Support the existing managers with the ongoing establishment of engineering services and maintenance departments by recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new members. + Guide engineering services and maintenance members to achieve Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, and People Development KPIs. + Train, promote, teach, and further develop three pillar function and 4S systems. + Become knowledgeable and learn quickly about the people, process, and product to provide technical expertise and direction to the team when needed. + Spend a considerable amount of time on the production floor with equipment and people. This will result in a direct result of developing, coaching each team member’s technical capability and problem–solving methodology. + Interact within the manufacturing department to confirm that performance and expectations are being met. + Expected to have strong focus on people development – providing leadership teaching, coaching and mentorship to all team members. + Meet engineering services and maintenance related KPIs by driving action through pro-active problem solving, visualizing department status, and providing tangible, continual improvements. **What you bring** + Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or 10+ years of equivalent professional experience in manufacturing, engineering, or maintenance. + Experience in engineering or process role for high volume manufacturing. + Experience in a management role with responsibility for direct reports. + Experience troubleshooting technical issues within a manufacturing environment, including equipment, installation, downtime, or similar. + Working knowledge of mean time to repair (MTTR) and mean time between failure (MTBF). + Ability to work weekends and off shift in a rotation plan with other managers to support a 24/7/365 manufacturing facility, including overtime up to 25% or higher during peak times. + Ability to work summer and winter shutdown and holidays as needed, including business travel, both domestic and international, up to 20%. **Added Bonus if you have** + Experience with new equipment technology related to start-up, major model change, and product launches in a fast pace highly automated manufacturing environment. + Completion of A3, Toyota Business Practice (TBP), or other equivalent documented problem-solving activity. + Knowledge of battery manufacturing cell and/or module. + Skills related to industrial process engineering (Controls, IoT, Process Monitoring, Andon utilization, data collection and storage, analytics). **What we’ll bring** During your interview process, our team can fill you in on all the details of our industry-leading benefits and career development opportunities.
