The Role
As an Engineering Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for carrying out fault diagnosis, repair, installation, removal and maintenance on all class of vessells.
Day to day, you’ll conduct maintenance, alterations and additions on the mast, periscope, radar and radio systems on board RN and entitled vessels.
Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance in accordance to customer requirements Fault Diagnosis and rectification over a broad range of mechanical, electrical and fibre optic systems Installation, removal, pressure testing and setting to work of engineering systems aboard RN vessels. Review of mast, periscope radio and radar documentation Ensuring all activities are carried out in line with risk assessments and health and safety protocols.
This role is full time, 37-hours per week, and based at HMNB Clyde near Helensburgh. There is a requirement for travel to other sites, as and when required.
Essential experience of the Engineering Specialist
Mechanical and/or electrical engineering background Prior knowledge of masts / periscopes advantageous Ability to read and understand engineering schematics Diagnosis experience
Qualifications for the Engineering Specialist
HNC / HND or equivalent in relevant engineering subject Manual Handling and Working at Height advantageous
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) / Developed Vetting (DV) / Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance for this role.
