The Role
As an Engineering Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll be at the heart of maintaining and enhancing the capabilities on all class of vessels.
Day to day, you’ll conduct maintenance, alterations and additions on the mast, periscope, radar and radio systems on board Royal Navy and entitled vessels.
Perform Planned and Reactive Maintenance tasks in line with customer requirements, ensuring all systems are operational. Fault Diagnosis and Rectification: Tackle a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and fibre optic systems, identifying and fixing issues efficiently. Handle the installation, removal, pressure testing, and commissioning of engineering systems aboard Royal Navy vessels. Review mast, periscope, radio, and radar documentation. Ensure all activities adhere to risk assessments and health and safety protocols.
This full-time role (37 hours per week) is based at HMNB Clyde near Helensburgh, with occasional travel to other sites as required
Essential experience of the Engineering Specialist
Mechanical and/or electrical engineering background Prior knowledge of masts / periscopes advantageous Ability to read and understand engineering schematics Diagnosis experience
Qualifications for the Engineering Specialist
HNC / HND or equivalent in relevant engineering subject Manual Handling and Working at Height advantageous

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
