This position falls within the Transmission Line Engineering Department of our organization. The successful engineer will complete projects that support our large utility customer, with minimal direction. The engineer will work with in-house and client engineers, and graphics technicians. The Senior Engineer will oversee a small department of Transmission Line Engineers and will also coordinate, and conduct training to lower level engineers.
ResponsibilitiesPerform advanced level engineering work activities on projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, and efficient manner to accomplish the assigned objectives.Prepare and provide engineering support for projects.Develop and/or review the conceptual project scopes and communicate the scope to multiple stakeholders; provide cost estimates for projects.Participate in project scheduling, resource planning, and cost control for assigned projects; responsible for meeting project timeline, deliverables, and cost constraints as assigned by project managers.Initiate solutions to work-related problems through analysis of reports and records; evaluate multiple solutions and interpret the results of the technical analysis.Provide recommendations as an active participant of a project team; communicate and coordinate with customers and interconnected stakeholders to resolve issues.Complete written technical performance reports and make periodic presentations to management and/or teams concerning team status and performance.Utilize technical interfaces and provide technical support to team.Review and/or approve related work of other team members, as assigned.Supervise work of the project team; responsible for hiring, termination, promotion, demotion, coaching, performance evaluations, and employee relations under the company and management guidance; drive training and development of team.Essential SkillsTransmission Line DesignPLS CADDTransmission line engineeringDesign engineeringHigh voltage systemsProfessional Engineering (PE) LicenseAdditional Skills & Qualifications10+ years of experience in electric utilities working with Transmission Line Engineering and Design.4+ years of experience leading or supervising a technical design or engineering team.Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field.Travel up to 10% of time.Work Environment
The office is an engineering office environment that is quiet in nature. Designers will share a cubicle with another designer (usually a more senior designer). The dress code is business casual. Teamwork is highly encouraged and happens frequently.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.10 - $74.52/hr.
