As an Engineering Team Leader, you will innovate ideas and solutions for various problems or requirements by designing electrical systems using technical principles and product design applications. You will contribute to the concept, design, and development of electrical systems and wiring harnesses while enhancing your skills and understanding of engineering design concepts within the Electrical Centre of Excellence team. You will plan and deliver projects by collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals and provide technical leadership and guidance to local and global teams. This position involves complex electrical system design and electrical integration in Caterpillar machines.
Although this position may be the transition from individual contributor to team leadership, the major focus of the job is on technical delivery.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Develop Electrical architecture for complex diesel and electric drive systems.Selection and sizing of E&E componentsDesign and develop electrical system and schematics for any given requirement or problem statement on electric drive machines. Perform electrical analysis, load analysis and design calculations.Design and Develop Wiring harness for electric drive machines.§Responsible to lead and deliver NPI Programs which includes Creation of electrical Sub-systems, Design and Routing of Harness, creation of Harness drawings, collaborating with suppliers.
Get involved and contribute to new component development and sub processes.Conduct design review meetings NPI Gateway reviews and Collaborate with Cross Functional teams and resolve any design boundary issues that arise.Investigate root causes for Field Failures and take corrective actions.Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business unitsPerform product maintenance /Resolve electrical design related issuesInterpersonal, leadership, and communication skills are essential. Key challenges include enhancing team creativity, fostering cooperation, and communicating tasks while refining them with team input. The Project Team Leader represents the team in meetings with management and customers. They must build networks to obtain resources, remove obstacles, and ensure team success. It requires skills like Decision Quality and Negotiating.
Required Qualification:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical & Electronics Engineering and 12-15 years of experience in Automotive electrical and electric drive vehicles. A minimum of 5 years of Pro/E - Creo experience is necessary.
Incumbent must be able to demonstrate the ability to gain a mastery of complex engineering and manufacturability concepts. Must have a good mechanical/electrical aptitude with ability to develop product concepts. Requires strong leadership ability and good communications skills.
Desired Qualification
Master’s degree in electrical engineering, or Electrical & Electronics Engineering,
Wiring Harness manufacturing experience will add advantage.
