Engineering Tech II

Job Summary

Operating, maintaining, monitoring, and supporting critical facilities electrical infrastructure for mission-critical systems that includes power, distribution and controls systems in addition to the processes that maximize 24/7 production uptime/ availability. Closely interact with internal support teams and with local contractors and vendors. The engineering technician will respond to abnormal conditions in an expedient manner and develop and implement approaches to maintain high availability and reliability within operations, improve efficiency, and implement new processes or strategies.

Position Responsibilities

Monitors plant electrical systems. Coordinates modifications to programming, wiring and integration to new or existing equipment.  Provides applied electrical technical expertise in the areas of design, review, layout, installation and operationEnsures critical facility electrical systems and programming problems are identified and repaired expeditiously.Facilitates plant automation projects and initiatives. Oversees contractor services.Creates and reads ladder logic and flow diagrams for program design, startup, simulation and testing.Prepares test procedures and debugs programs.Demonstrates competence in designing, coordinating, troubleshooting and supporting PLC’s, Human Machine Interface / SCADA systems and databases while maintaining plant automation standards.

Position Qualifications

Two-year technical degree in electrical technology or related field requiredKnowledge of process control principles, standards and practicesMinimum five (5) years of relevant experience with PLC’s, instrumentation and servos. Ability to perform real time process software programming of PLC’s.Demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of programming, analysis, and designWorking knowledge of desktop software configuration, and networking/ communications protocolsAbility to plan, organize, and schedule work independentlyAbility to communicate effectively and develop rapport with internal and external customersUnderstanding of electrical control systems and switchgear.Ability to troubleshoot using a variety of diagnostic tools including Digital Multi-meter, oscilloscope and megometer.PC based computer literacyComprehend and use technical vendor manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)Electrical control and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s)Experienced in Instrumentation (temperature, pressure, etc.), Pneumatics, Motors/Drives/Gearboxes/Power Transmission Systems, Print reading and ability to understand Process Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID’s)Ability to read and prepare wiring diagrams and blueprintsUse of tools including precision, hand, and poweredDemonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environmentAbility to train othersAbility to problem solveRequires being available to respond to emergency situations as they arise.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.  The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste and smell.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature. Compensation: 

Pay Range:$57,000-$77,000

The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
