The Engineering Technical Authority is responsible for the technical direction and execution of all aspects of engineering on the Combined Operations, Services, Maintenance & Infrastructure Contract (COSMIC) supporting the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facilities and tenants at John C. Stennis Space Center (SSC) and Marshall Space Flight Center’s Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF).
Responsibilities
Serves as the lead interface to the SSC Chief Engineer, the technical leader for the program engineering team, and the technical advisor to the General Manager.
Serve as the primary technical authority on engineering matters, providing guidance and support to resolve complex technical challenges.
Ensures AKS is adhering to sound engineering processes and is compliant with company policy, procedures, and quality standards and Agency standards.
Collaborates with internal teams, subcontractors, and NASA stakeholders to align engineering efforts with the mission objectives and priorities of the organization.
Identifies and raises issues to the appropriate AKS manager or Center engineering management and is a key resource in resolving these issues.
Maintains cognizance over technical activities within program teams and ensures horizontal integration of the best engineering practices across the company.
Maintains close customer cooperation to ensure that requirements meet customer expectations.
Leads / oversees technical work products developed by the larger engineering team, supporting design reviews as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in facility engineering, operations, or related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Demonstrated previous systems engineering leadership experience is highly preferred.
Proven track record of driving innovation and implementing successful change management initiatives within complex operational environments.
Strong technical expertise in facility operations, maintenance, and infrastructure management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster collaboration across diverse groups.
Experience working with government contracts and familiarity with NASA facilities and operations is highly desirable.
