The Role
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
This position performs a variety of duties in support of Engineering Department E14, Submarine Machinery. The Candidate should have prior experience with various submarine classes with focus on VCS Class submarine Arrangements and working systems such as, SAP, PDM, DDMS, AUTOCAD, Mainframe (3G, MDS) and Team Center. This position regularly communicates with Engineers and Designers within E14, other SubE departments, document control team and the waterfront.
Noted areas of responsibility would include but are not limited to the following:
• E14 VCS Engineering Report (ER) Coordinator - responsible for the receipt, review and distribution of incoming ERs generated by the Trades (as E14EC and E14T LAA) into Department E14.
• E14 Engineering Report administrative approver - responsible for the approval of ERs resolved within E14 and processed for issue. An extensive level of knowledge regarding the various procedures and databases used to support the E14 personnel processing ERs.
• E14 VCS Hole Cut Request Coordinator - responsible for the receipt, review and processing of all Critical Hole Cut requests received from the Trades affecting E14-owned systems.
• Responsible for receipt and review of work holdups and releases received under the PNDC process from Production Planning Departments X41 and X83 affecting work applicable to Department E14.
Associate's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
NNS Apprentice School graduate Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience Nice to HavePrior submarine experience as a Trades person, foreman or as a member of the Navy is preferred but not required.
