Engineering Technician

The Engineering Technician is responsible for maintaining state of the art GMP facilities and equipment. The Engineering Technician will coordinate with various departments and suppliers to perform calibrations, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of manufacturing/lab instruments and equipment per the SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The technician will monitor equipment failures and determine need for appropriate repairs, operate various test instruments and test fixtures.
The technician will install, configure, and validated new instruments and equipment. The technician will author testing procedures and validation documentation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform calibrations and maintenance activities prior to the scheduled due date

Document calibration and maintenance activities in a CMMS system (Computerized Maintenance Management System)

Manages schedule and works with engineering, production, and lab teams to ensure equipment availability

Schedule and work with suppliers to perform service, installation, calibration, maintenance activities

Troubleshoot equipment failures and perform appropriate repairs

Participate in engineer and continuous improvement projects

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Execute engineering protocols and validations.

Support equipment investigations and support CAPAs as needed.

Ensure proper documentation is completed to meet quality system requirements.

Mentor, onboard and train junior technicians.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A minimum of a high school degree or GED; prior experience or related education is a plus 

3+ years of experience in a technical/technician role. Prior experience performing calibrations and maintenance activities preferred; regulated industry experience preferred.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT

Up to 10% overnight travel

Local driving to pick up equipment, tools as required 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Lifting of up to 40 lbs.

Standing for two hours or more

Ability to wear and put on sterile gowning

Use of power tools and repair tools to perform service tasks and maintain facility
