Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is an Engineering Technician, GS-0802-7/8/9 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division (SWD), Fort Worth District, located in Jasper or Texarkana, TX. This is an announcement for 1 vacancy. The duty location will be determined during selection. Responsibilities Draft plans to include inspecting work of contractors and hired labor. Gather information from files and prepares various reports relevant to maintenance and construction activities. Perform contract activities of technical nature. Perform field engineering work to develop site plans. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. For the GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience includes the following duties: 1) coordinating preventative maintenance and safety of equipment; OR 2) using surveying techniques and guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). For the GS-08: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience includes the following duties: 1) Reviewing scopes of work covering civil engineering features on various civil work projects AND 2) Evaluating contract designs to ensure accuracy and conformance with construction specifications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). For the GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience includes the following duties: 1) Conducting field surveys AND 2) Preparing contracts and specifications, AND 3) Reviewing design criteria for maintenance and construction projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
