EGO is currently seeking Engineering Design Technicians for our Akron, OH office. Here’s what you will do:

Perform drafting and design work and complete related paperwork and other engineering recording.

Conduct maintenance activities associated with the design of Company facilities.

Prepare manual or computer assisted drawings in accordance with Company standards.

Complete necessary paperwork and input data into company record systems as required.

Provide information and direction to others regarding company facilities.

Coordinate activities on Company projects utilizing engineering records, field book and mapping information, etc.

Compile cost estimates for construction projects.

Design the installation and/or relocation of company facilities, including required material and piping configuration for pipelines, services, pressure regulating stations, etc.

Perform duties within the CAD Design Technician classification for which he/she is qualified.

Who you are:

You have:

A High School diploma or GED.

1 year of AutoCAD design experience OR proof of AutoCAD class taken in pursuit of an Engineering degree OR a certificate of completion of the Basics of AutoCAD.

You must specify with which CAD platforms you have experience or formal training.

Vocational or technical training in an engineering or related (drafting/design) discipline.

A valid state driver's license.

Good computer skills

Good math skills

Good communication skills (written and verbal)

Good Time Management Skills

You can:

Successfully pass the EEI Technician (TECH) aptitude test.

Preferred Assets:

GIS experience

Utilities experience

MS Office experience

Understanding of welding, plastic fusion, inspection, and test procedures

Awareness of State and Federal regulations as they pertain to facility design and construction.

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment, but some outside work is required.

Office Work Environment Up to 25%.

Domestic Travel Up to 25%.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
