This posting is for an Engineering Technician I position located in the Salisbury Construction Office. This position will assist engineers and higher-level technicians in the implementation and administration of roadway and structure construction projects awarded to private contractors. Responsibilities of this position will include assisting on projects categorized from minor to complex, providing inspection of every phase of a construction project to ensure it is built according to plans and specifications in a timely and cost-effective manner, and conducting routine inspections for compliance with contract agreements, standard, codes, permits, and specifications. Additional Expectations Applicants will be required to have a close visual acuity to use testing instruments, to read plan details, to make accurate field measurements and to inspect roadway and structure components. Employees in this position may be exposed to high traffic volumes, may work at heights over water or traffic, and may have to climb on the substructure and superstructure of bridges. This position must be able to safely perform manual tasks involving the bush axe and other tools on steep and rough terrain. This position is expected to carry testing equipment over rough and steep terrain. This position will be required to lift and carry at least 50 pounds. The successful applicant for this position is expected to safely work high above ground, safely operate a motor vehicle, be proficient in record keeping, and engineering testing equipment. The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle. Safety toe shoes required.
