They will focus on the implementation and maintaining of Facilities, Utilities and Equipment (FUE) supporting the world-wide manufacture of Biologics and Transfusion Instrument test kits to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality. This includes activities, such as, but not limited to, technical support of manufacturing equipment (which includes 5 lines of automated filling/packaging machines, custom bottle assembly lines, multiple 10-1000L fermentation and bioprocess equipment, inspection vision systems, robotic pick & place units, integrated labeling systems), machine shop operations, material (commodity, packaging, etc.) testing, manufacturing, process and laboratory equipment / Instrumentation installation, startup and qualification, and related facilities activities. The Engineering Technician role becomes the subject-matter-expert (SME) on specific equipment systems and provides guidance to other Abbott Technicians and outside contractors to assure a timely and correct completion of assigned activities. **What You’ll Work On** + **Innovative Projects:** Engage in cutting-edge projects focused on Facilities, Utilities, and Equipment (FUE) that support all site manufacturing areas, including fermentation, biologics production, and automated fill/finish of instrument testing products. + **Collaborative Environment** : Work alongside leading engineers and cross-functional teams to validate and qualify FUE, including process equipment, automated systems, and related software. + **Technical Mastery:** Maintain and enhance PLC control systems (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens), perform software backups, and keep CAD drawings up to date. + **Mechatronics Expertise** : Leverage your mechatronics skills to drive technical innovation, resolve design conflicts, and troubleshoot equipment systems methodically. + **Methodical Troubleshooting:** Work independently to apply systematic troubleshooting methods to diagnose and resolve issues with equipment and systems. + **Adaptability:** Stay flexible to evolving requirements and proactively anticipate customer needs for solutions and information. + **Project Management:** Juggle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, ensuring commitments are met without compromising on quality. + **Hands-On Installation:** Install new systems or equipment and train maintenance staff on proper upkeep. + **Detailed Documentation:** Develop and maintain comprehensive records of tests, inspections, and repairs, ensuring compliance with engineering, safety, and quality standards. + **Continuous Improvement:** Prepare technical recommendations to drive ongoing improvements in processes and systems, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness. + **Supplier Collaboration:** Work with suppliers to ensure system parts meet performance and cost objectives. + **Positive Attitude:** Foster a positive attitude and cooperative relationships within the site organizations. **Required Qualifications** + High School Diploma and two years of qualifying experience (e.g. Associate degree, two years of successful completion of a trade school) - OR - Junior college (or apprenticeship) certification in their selected field. + Six (6) yearsof related experience may be substituted for the two-year certificate.
