This position is based in the Division 6 Southern Avenue Resident’s Office in Cumberland County. This is an Engineering Technician I position that supports higher level technicians and engineers in functional areas such as construction inspection, surveying, materials sampling, testing, and construction traffic control. Work functions may include entering specific project information into Sharepoint/Shareplus. Position duties include the performance of a wide variety of standardized and non-standardized tests and assignments in compiling, analyzing, computing, editing, and processing field data. Work may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned. The employee may have to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as necessary. Possess knowledge and understanding of general concepts and practices used in highway construction and design. Ability to conduct routine inspections for compliance with contract agreements, standard/codes, and specifications. Perform entry level materials sampling, testing and inspection. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, management, and general public. Knowledge of mathematics (Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry). Ability to read and interpret construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures. Accurately maintain daily records of work accomplished.
