SUMMARY:
The Engineering Technician II will independently determine and perform operations required to calibrate and certify complex electronic and/or physical/dimensional test equipment, maintaining traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), or by reference to natural constants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assesses and utilizes calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems, and accuracy requirements.Analyzes magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results and/or test accuracy ratios to determine reliability of measurement process in quantitative terms.Recommend substitution of standards or measuring equipment if required, diagnose and repair malfunctions in complex measuring and test equipment using theories of operation, block diagrams, and schematics.

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:REQUIRED:
Education - No degree required.
Must hold an active Secret Clearance or be eligible to obtain a Secret Clearance.Technical Experience - One year of work-related experience. Specific technical experience includes:
Following specific instructions to perform simple or standard calibrations.Conducting a variety of calibration tests using established methods, adjusting and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors.Extracting engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources, processing the data following well-defined methods, and preparing CPRs, calibration reports and/or certificates.Understanding the calibration process and requirements.Using automatic calibration systems.Experience in the calibration and aligning of TMDE.Knowledge of electronic or physical/dimensional calibration principles and calibration traceability.

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about. Near visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone; manual dexterity to operate a telephone and keyboard; lift horizontally and vertically.

Travel required to customer locations for completion of work during normal working hours. Outside of travel, normal working hours will be performed on-site.
Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system.
