The Coal Blend Operating Technician will perform specialized analysis on coal, coke and gas samples for environmental compliance, process control and product development.
General job duties include: Operation of pilot scale facilityTroubleshooting and maintaining various laboratory equipment, including process gas chromatographs, NOx CEM, Opacity COMS and calorimeters. Inspect, repair and maintain sample system for the analyzers, including sample probes, samples lines, thermocouples, chiller, pumps and valvesField testing, physical and process observations in an industrial environmentEvaluation and interpretation data Adherence to safety procedures.Safety is our core value which requires you to wear safety protection such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective clothing, and boots with metatarsal protection. A commitment to safe working practices and support of a zero-workplace injury environment is required.Skills Desired: Ability to learn the operation of instrumentation in a laboratory and plant environmentStrong mechanical and laboratory testing skill sets including familiarity with operation of computer-controlled test and data logging equipmentFamiliarity with ISO standards and ability to perform ISO calibrationsEffectively communicate resultsAbility to work collaboratively with other technicians in a team environment.Experience or Qualifications Required: Associate’s degree in Electronics/Chemistry or equivalent Technical degree Willing to work both outside in a chemical plant atmosphere, as well as in a climate-controlled laboratory setting. Must be able to climb barrel ladders.
