Engineering Technician III

Our Clean Energy Team in Waukesha is looking for an Engineering Technician III. This person will work with the engineering team and be responsible for planning, constructing, and maintaining infrastructure and fixtures used in advanced electrical testing of current and new Clean Energy products including inverters, battery storage systems, load management modules, and transfer switches. These validation activities ensure that the product requirements and test processes are defined and met. The person will also execute tests as defined by the engineering team and document the test results. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** + Assemble and validate electrical equipment per electrical schematics including but not limited to wiring, conduit, transformers, load panels, test and measurement equipment, PV panels, and PCBAs + Create and modify electrical schematics for laboratory setups + Setup test equipment and products in proper sequence per testing procedures + Perform tests on prototypes, existing, and competitor products for stated criteria related to design and performance requirements + Use various electrical, mechanical, and electronic measurement devices + Assist in the assembly and fabrication of test equipment and prototype products per blueprint specifications + Assist with the Generac Engineering Laboratory Audit and organization 5S programs + Recommend facility and laboratory test equipment requirements + Mentor and train developing technicians **Minimal Requirements:** + High School Diploma + 5+ Years of relevant work experience + Experience working with high voltage systems (400V DC, 480VAC) + Experience documenting electrical systems and writing clear and concise procedures **Preferred Qualifications:** + Associates degree in electronics or a related field + Familiarity with residential electrical wiring and codes + Ability to operate and troubleshoot complex components and systems, for example grid tied PV and storage systems with battery inverter, solar inverters, combiner boxes, control modules, and transfer switches. + Experience working with lithium-ion batteries + Experience with power electronics and related test and measurement equipment such as power meters, grid simulators, and electronic loads + Ability to solder, desolder, and repair PCBA’s + Willingness to develop validation testing skillset + Experience working with Data Acquisition Systems, Oscilloscopes, and DC power supplies. + Ability to interpret, document, and perform statistical analysis on test limits and results related to electrical measurements + Ability to maintain test-related documentation including test procedures and test reports in a database environment **Level of Independance:** Works under general supervision while performing routine, non-routine assignments, and advanced tests with some technical direction from others using existing procedures to solve problems. **Physical Demands** : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
