We have an opportunity for an Engineering Technician - IoT Automation/Testing/Analytics to join our Apex, NC team. You will oversee the validation and qualification of our connected IoT devices within Pentair’s expanding portfolio of smart and automated solutions. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of device data across diverse operating conditions, supporting innovation in automation, IoT, and data-driven systems. The Senior Test Lead will collaborate across multiple strategic initiatives, including automation and AI-driven insights for connected products.
You will:
Product Qualification: Lead the verification of connected devices, ensuring high data accuracy and operational performance under varying conditions (e.g., load, temperature, and environmental factors).Data Integrity: Establish and execute protocols to verify the accuracy of data generated by IoT-enabled devices, addressing gaps from prior testing and optimizing reliability.Test Planning: Design, implement, and manage comprehensive test strategies for IoT devices, ensuring compatibility with automation and data ecosystems.Collaboration: Partner with engineering, firmware, and data science teams to align validation efforts with broader IoT and automation objectives.Test Execution: Define and execute tests with clear pass/fail criteria by engaging product design engineers. Ensure a high level of detail, repeatability, and accuracy in all test plans and execution.Continuous Improvement: Analyze test results to identify design or process improvements and communicate actionable insights to relevant teams.Infrastructure Development: Collaborate with lab operations to establish and maintain test environments that replicate real-world operating conditions. Develop and implement automated test systems using tools such as Python or LabVIEW to enhance testing efficiency and accuracy.Compliance and Standards: Ensure testing processes meet or exceed industry and company standards for IoT and connected device performance.Key Qualifications:
Education: Demonstrated expertise as a Senior EE Technician with an associate’s degree and significant relevant experience is required.Experience: 8+ years in product testing and validation, with a strong emphasis on IoT, automation, or connected device ecosystems. Experience in ensuring data accuracy and operational integrity across various environmental conditions.Technical Expertise: Proficiency in test plan development and testing methods to ensure comprehensive product qualification and effective field validation. Familiarity with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) processes and performance testing methodologies. Hands-on experience with testing tools, environmental chambers, and data logging systems, with a proven ability to leverage test data to ensure thorough requirements verification.Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to independently plan and execute test verification as part of a broader project or initiative.Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical issues.Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present findings and recommendations to diverse audiences.Compensation:
For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated hourly base pay is $39.00+ per hour. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs.
