Job Summary: The Engineering Technician IV directly supports research and development engineering as well as manufacturing engineering, performing a variety of assembly, test and diagnostics functions to support the organization. This role needs an individual to be versatile and dynamic as the job tasks may vary frequently depending upon organizational demand and resources. Works closely with team of engineers in problem identification, containment activities, action plan creation and execution.
Essential Duties:
Testing, Building, Modifying:
Use various electrical, electronic, and mechanical measurement devices.
Setup test equipment in proper sequence per testing procedures
Perform product and system-level tests on prototypes, existing and competitor products - involving electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical functions
Fabricate, assemble products and test fixtures
Accurately interpret and document measurements and test results
Investigate field failures of returned products through system-level testing
Fabricate and lead assembly of test equipment and prototype products per assembly drawings, schematics, and fabrication drawings
Clerical:
Analyze test data and prepare formal and informal test reports.
Maintain test-related procedures and documentation
Update and develop policies and procedures supporting the continuous improvement of the engineering lab
Other Duties:
Actively participate with fellow team members in daily maintenance of lab environment and preventive maintenance of lab equipment
Collaborate with engineers in planning of future test plans and requirements
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma
10 Years of relevant work experience
Experienced in assembly and diagnosis of equipment, machinery or automotive
Able to use basic computer applications for email and entering data
Ability to read blueprints and/or technical drawings
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of an Accredited Engineering Technology program or similar technical training
Ability to read electrical schematics and utilize tools such as multi-meters to diagnose systems
Fabrication of metal parts including the use of the manual lathe, mill, plasma cuter, sheet metal brake, and mig welding
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.
Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
Demonstrate self-motivation to learn new concepts.
Understand and apply electrical techniques and theories.
Interpret and implement one-line drawings and electrical schematics.
Intermediate computer skills, including comfort with Microsoft Excel and Word
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
