The Engineering Unit Supervisor oversees the Traffic Engineering Study Section, which includes licensed engineers, engineering technicians, data aides, and planners. The supervisor manages the preparation and review of traffic studies, including signal warrant analyses, all-way stop control evaluations, safety studies, and traffic calming initiatives, ensuring compliance with FDOT standards and guidelines.
A key responsibility of this role is managing traffic data collection to ensure accuracy and reliability, which supports sound engineering decisions and project outcomes. The supervisor coordinates with team members to maintain quality and integrity in the data used for engineering studies and projects. Additionally, the supervisor reviews and approves traffic control device installations, including signs and pavement markings, ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining roadway safety and operational standards across the County.
The supervisor also conducts public outreach by representing the division at Commissioner and community meetings, responding to inquiries from residents and stakeholders, and providing timely and accurate updates. Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsRequires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or closely related field.
Requires six (6) years progressively responsible experience in professional engineering work appropriate to the area of assignment including two (2) years supervisory experience.
