Basic Function: Under the general supervision of the Director of Special Programs, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. Essential Functions: + Provides ESL services + Administers state required testing to English Learners (ELs) (ELPA21, ISASP). + Provides academic and English support to ELs as needed. + Plans for and work with individuals or small groups of ELs. + Collaborates with ELs’ classroom teachers on a regular basis to meet the needs of ELs. + Attends monthly EL meetings and training opportunities at the AEA and state level. + Extensive knowledge of second language acquisition, research, and best teaching practices as applied to ELs’ linguistic and academic development. + Builds relationships with culturally diverse students and their families to ensure that each student reaches his/her full potential. + Develops and administers curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives. + Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction, and student learning. + Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction + Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs;
