JOB SUMMARY


The ENHANCE Counselor, works for the ENHANCE Program which provides additional services to students who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), reports to the Assistant Director of the ENHANCE Program. The ENHANCE Program takes a holistic approach and focuses on social, academic, organizational, and emotional growth to help students with ASD adapt and flourish in college.


Hours may vary depending on the needs of the department and College and will include certain evening hours and holidays when classes are in session. Occasional weekend work (e.g., College Orientations, First-Year Student Move-in Day, Admitted Students Day) will be required.


SALARY RANGE
This is a 10 month position
AFT - U24 - Steps 1-3 - $71,400 -$78,537

Internal Applicants salary will be based on union contract negotiations

Examples of Duties

DUTIES

Conducts individual weekly counseling sessions with the students in the ENHANCE programLeads/Co-leads weekly group therapy meetings Oversees and supervises weekly social eventsAssists the Assistant Director with providing on-going supervision to peer mentorsAssists the Assistant Director with administrative components of the program such as intervening with faculty members when students have difficulties, consulting with parents, having phone meetings with parents regarding prospective students, etc.Creates and facilitates weekly academic/executive functioning workshopsAssists with interviewing and assessing for acceptance into the ENHANCE programProvides training to student groups, faculty, and professional staff regarding working with students with ASDChaperone off-campus social eventsOther duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Minimum requirements - Master’s degree in mental health related field. License-eligible in NJ (supervision provided).


Preferred requirements - licensed Master level professional with degree in mental health, psychology, or social work (LCSW, LPC) or Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. New Jersey licensed or license-eligible (supervision provided) as a psychologist will be considered. If applicant is a psychologist, NJ licensure will be required prior to eligibility of the first multi-year contract.

.EXPERIENCE

Minimum four years of counseling experience, one of which must be with working with a young adult population who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder

A Doctoral degree may be substituted for two years of required work experience.

Preferred experience working with college student populations

 Preferred experience in conducting educational workshops on executive functioning skills, study skills, time management and organization
