The UHealth system at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for an Enrollment Navigator.
SUMMARY
The Enrollment Navigator (H) facilitates patients’ ability to obtain services by identifying barriers to care, coordinating the development of treatment plans, and monitoring the implementation and follow-up of services ordered by caregivers.
Navigators will educate and assist individuals and families in understanding their insurance options as available through the Health Insurance Marketplace―part of the Affordable Care Act―and aid in completing the application process, enrolling, and post-enrollment assistance. Candidates with scheduling flexibility are preferred. Candidates onboarded for this role will receive all supplies and necessary training.

JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Conducts patient evaluations to obtain information necessary for the development of an effective treatment plan.
2. Ensures patients have access to insurance and social service programs for which they are eligible.
3. Provides patient reminders of upcoming appointments and acts as liaison between patients and providers.
4. Identifies and resolves real or perceived barriers to care.
5. Educates and counsels patients on issues related to their health and life situations.
6. Maintains current knowledge of community health, welfare resources, and any other programs available to patients.
7. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM
Department Specific Functions
• Explain the Health Insurance Marketplace application process, program requirements, and timelines to interested consumers, accurately and in understandable terms
• Interview individual consumers to obtain information needed to apply for insurance and potential payment assistance programs
• Conduct education activities to raise awareness about coverage options available under the federal Insurance Marketplace Medicaid, and CHIP
• Assist individuals with completion of the online eligibility determination, plan selection, and enrollment process for affordable insurance coverage options
• Provide post-enrollment assistance
• Assist and ensure proper set-up and breakdown of enrollment events at assigned community sites
• Ensure proper documentation and data collection as needed for program reporting and tracking
• Responsible for maintaining program supplies and equipment provided
• Other duties as assigned
Department Specific Qualifications
• Must have reliable transportation
• Ability to work in diverse settings in the community
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
• Computer skills – intermediate level or above required; ability to efficiently navigate the Internet, Marketplace website, and input data into applicable computer systems; familiarity with Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Cellular phone competency
• Must be a self-starter and work with limited supervision
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively and appropriately with both peers and professionals, as well as consumers (individuals and families)
• Knowledge of public assistance programs, ability to conduct fact-finding interviews, and ability to provide information concerning eligibility for public assistance programs
• Basic knowledge of income tax terminology
• Must pass background check and fingerprint screening as required for Navigators
