ABOUT THE ROLE\: 

3D Systems, a leading global provider of 3D printing solutions is seeking an Engineering Technician with a strong mechanical background to support material development and troubleshooting of complex electromechanical systems (SLS 3D Printers). Candidate must possess strong working knowledge of mechanical parts and electronic components at a discrete and system level.

The primary responsibility of this role is to support material development within a lab setting. Equipment maintenance support, powder handling, post processing parts, system debug, hands-on experiments and general upkeep of the printers and the lab itself.

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO\:

Perform troubleshooting and fault analysis on electro-mechanical systems. Post processing of parts. From breaking out builds to de-powdering and bead blasting. Drive to understand root cause and countermeasure of faults and transfer knowledge back to the materials development team. Assist process engineers with testing process definitions. Collect information on system faults, repairs, findings and communicate to the lab supervisor. Follow written and verbal instructions from supervisor and work together with the team. *

Education and Training

 

2-year Technical Degree, Trade School or equivalent experience is preferred

 

Experience

 

2 to 5 years’ experience in a relevant discipline

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

Ability to read and understand technical manuals, schematics, assembly drawings and process documents Advanced mechanical skills and electrical skills Proficiency with repair tools and techniques Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak with all levels of employees, guests, vendors, and team members. Great time management, organization, and prioritization abilities Working with minimal supervision Keen attention to detail and efficient problem-solving skills Some knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and general PC software Ability to measure component values with a handheld digital multi-meter, power supplies and automatic test equipment. Operate tools such as torque wrenches, torque screwdrivers, screwdrivers, wrenches and other tools as required. Strong teamwork skills a must
